  • Yes, that's standard, unfortunately. Still hope you get it back some other way, but unfortunately the onus is very much on you. :(

  • The day has come, my trusty ('I'll have this when I'm 80' ) bike has been stolen. Was kept in my building's communal bike shed, looks to me as if other bikes have been lifted at the same time (many cut cables and locks in there). Funnily enough, no sign of my kryptonite lock at all.

2018 Genesis Tour De Fer, in light green.

    Distinguishing features:

    Salsa anything cage, (not pictured)
Selle Italia SLR SuperFlow Saddle in WHITE,
    cycle-to-charge USB adaptor
    Ductaped + cable-tied rear mudguard,

  • A good friend of mine had a couple of bikes taken from his garden shed on Tuesday night, if people could keep an eye out?

One is a white Specialized Model Allez Elite, Frame Number: WUD80818359D (Pics attached)

    The other is a black/red Giant Avail,Frame Number: C14K5087

Little hope of getting them back I guess and the police have already closed the case.

  • Hello all, my friend had his bike stolen from the roof of his car, it's a one of a kind and should get a lot of attention if it's up for re-sale. Please keep your ears to the ground, there's an article with photos of the bike here..think he deserves some justice...
    Cheers!

  • Sorry to hear about your bike being stolen. What area was it taken from? Sounds similar to the theft I experienced in Catford.

  • Sorry to hear that..It was stolen from his car in Herne Hill so not too far from far from Catford.

  • Had my planet X stolen near Elephant and Castle today. Any help appreciated!

  • Very late in the day, but at the time didn't even think to check in on here.

Around a year ago, probably around august last year I was mugged for my Dolan outside the Stronghold climbing gym in Tottenham Hale- does anyone remember seeing it? I'm not expecting to get it back, would just be nice to get some closure on it. I got a Planet X roadie to replace it which was subsequently stolen last month. Didn't get a picture of that one though...

  • Clerkenwell: A friend's Dawes Londoner mixte with Alfine 8 gears was stolen from her apartment block's "secure" underground parking area a couple days ago. Thief unbolted the rail from the wall despite good locking technique.

    Secure those bolts, people!

  • Shit! ... what time of day?

  • Speak to management company as their duty of care....

  • Yeah, I know. But the logic is if there is something to lock to, it should be installed correctly. The fact it is a secure carpark, limited access can go either way. But at least worth a try.

Dodgy looking Eastway with the lock still connected if anyone is missing one.

  • It was around 4-5pm? Broad daylight... people walking on the other side of the road seemingly unaware of what was happening.

A young male came up to me on a bike as I was waking along with a friend. He asked where I was from. I’m from Yorkshire and had a feeling that wasn’t the answer he’d be looking for. His next statement was “Give me your pedals”.

He was around 15-16 so was a bit bewildered. I’m a grown man with a pretty athletic build so was impressed by his brazenness and intrigued as to how he planned to carry out this operation.

He repeated “give me your pedals”. This time he lifted his t-shirt revealing the top of his knife which he then took into his free hand.

I then looked over my shoulder to see his associates. 3-4 more kids with the oldest looking 18-19.

At this point, after some quick maths, I realised internal organs were probably worth more than my bike and handed it over to the older male who casually walked away with it. Don’t mess with kids with nothing to lose.

  • Shit situation but no doubt the right decision. I got mugged in Birmingham as a young teen by two inner city rats with knives. It has bugged me ever since, 30 odd years later.

  • Yeah, it definitely sticks with you... Can't imagine what it would have been like for a young kid.

I lost most of my faith in the Police that day.

  • Think I may have just passed this near Broadway Market, was it pinched in London?

  • Yes it was!

I've actually spotted it for sale on Gumtree, but with racks etc all stripped off. Police on it at the moment..

    Did it have racks??

  • 4 front wheels nicked at Waterloo, Kryptonite cables cut off, another had a front track nut taken off and the other side pretty much undone.

  • Hi, it definitely had a black rear rack and black mudguards, noticed the rear guard had quite a long mudflap fender thing, but couldn't get a very good view of the cockpit, so couldn't check for those grips you had. The rider I spotted was going West on Whiston Road at about 3:50pm, white male in his early 30's, slim build, neck length brown hair, pretty unremarkable, but he just stood out as didn't look like he was comfortable or familiar with the bike.... good luck retrieving it!

  • Around 9pm, he tailgated a deliveroo rider in through the buzzer-secured gate. Also was wearing a cap and covid facemask - so the cctv isn’t much use. He did leave a cheap BMX behind though.

The management company of course has washed their hands of it.
