Cheers. Yeah, I've no plans/interest to do SRMR. I'm just trying to branch out a little bit. There's too much dirt stuff being posted by people I know for me to not consider at least trying some mini-adventures off-road for a change. Sawyer inline. Ta

Actual LOL.
I was considering stuff like GBDuro before lockdown happened. But I don't think it's sensible. I mean a lot of stuff I do isn't sensible but most of it is done without appearing to be a Total Dominic.
Imagine losing your footing on some hike a bike and being pinned by your own food supply.

You got lucky, there's heaps of deer, and crypto is rife in UK waterways. I filtered on HTR, no tabs though.

It didnt stop raining be fair. Also I only need water twice from non bottled source, as many shops.
If it was not raining i would filter

What's the difference in filtering and tablets? Obviously filtering gets rid of the big stuff but I've never really been able to find a straight answer on what can still get you if you filter but don't use tablets and what the risk is.

@theracingcoll: Just to clarify, we have put this date out there so riders can prepare. We will only go ahead on 1 Aug if society’s mood music across the UK (and by extension government restrictions) allow it

"society’s mood music"
What?

I guess "public opinion"

Cycling through bracken-infested UK uplands?
Consider the risks of ptaquiloside
[This Dane was checking the quality of well-water, but the risk persists]. -

I skimmed. Only a risk if you eat it?

Tomorrow we can start dotwatching again with the Hope 1000. An offroad race in Switzerland with Sofiane as the biggest name: https://dotwatcher.cc/race/hope-1000-2020

We could be doing things like racing bikes if the UK government wasn't so fucking useless.
-
• #3990
TTs probably starting early July... you know you want to :-)

If there's enough organisers/marshalls to run them. I was only interested in the 12hrs and I'm not sure I can be arsed now, even if they do run.
-
• #3992
We’re trying to set things up so you only need TK and marshals, and no need for any interaction at sign on or push off, so for regular club events hopefully we won’t struggle (more than normal) to recruit volunteers. We may loose a couple of our open events but I’m afraid we don’t promote a 12.
Not sure I could be arsed with a 12 under any circumstances!

Jochen (leader) got into an accident. No physical harm but his bike is done. He got a MTB from a local to continue.
Markus, nr2, going offroute and not turning back. That will land him a time penalty so Sofiane probably second.
-
• #3995
Didn't even know it was an off-road race. Yep, I'm that interested in it.
-
• #3996
Sofiane the biggest name when Emma Pooley's in it? Er ...

Here's the direct Trackleaders link, by the way:

god I bet that's race is gorgeous.
But aren't Swiss borders currently closed to foreign residents. Also, isn't wild camping illegal in Switzerland?

Not according to this link even though it says it was updated on 23rd June. Unsure what it was before but in any chase a lot of Germans managed to get there.
I think you're right about it being illegal but getting caught and fined is another thing. It's illegal in a lot of places but races still happen. I think there's a good enough understanding in the bikepacking community that you leave no trace and you don't be a dick.
I didnt filter or pill in the uk when racing ht550 as the water was straight from the sky. Depends where you are mate. But Kyrgyzstan I filtered everything, you'll get real sick there. So many animals.
Sawyer. In line on my bladder hose
