He said that it was petrol in the presser, but that may be meaningless.

Its a discovery.
I looked at numbers, if you believe the mpg then it might be doable, but I doubt it.
-
• #13579
Says something like 8l/100km for the smallest petrol one and has a 77l tank.
So if those numbers are real, your 4 year old doesn't need a pee in 4 hours and you go real slow because you don't trust your eyes, then you can definitely make the trip without stopping.

Discovery Sport so not an Evoque. Pretty sure it's the "R-Dynamic" model too so only available in 4WD.
ETA: you can find his reg quite easily online and put it into MOT/Tax checker.
It's a 2.0 Diesel. -

f) it's quite plausible he didn't feel safe at his London home, the various videos online seem to be good evidence of this
But let's not get cause and effect mixed up. People were shouting at him because he broke quarantine, not the other way around. If he was worried for his safety in March why did he only get security at his house last week? Doesn't add up.
-
• #13582
My mistake then. Was referring to the footage where he loads that bike into the car. Yeah, a Disco is no hypermiler.

We also knew where Boris Johnson live before, and he have a lots of enemies also.
People weren’t shouting at him outside, he was shouting at people inside. If safety an issues; the government would know about it, or at least should to ensure their staff is safe.

Judging by the news footage he has an Evoque, which is a fairly low and light "crossover" that´s usually sold as front (two) -wheel drive.
Even with that in mind, car’s mpg are not as manufacturer claim to be, moreso when it’s a big and heavy thing.
Either way it’s moot, a big journey like that, you’re gonna have to fill up so it doesn’t go completely empty.

Maybe he carries a spare fuel tank and filled up in a quiet spot, say in the grounds of a castle? 😂

Just wait until Cummings claims that this whole Durham thing was a deliberate play.

That's about 100m from our place. How did I not see that?

• #13591
Maybe you should have your eyes tested, fancy a long drive?

Drove 400 miles this weekend. To attend to a genuine threat to life emergency involving a family member. Probably would have done the same for a bit of a walk and an eyetest too.

If safety an issues; the government would know about it, or at least should to ensure their staff is safe.
And the police will have a record of any credible threats. I imagine if they had these, it would've been released by now.

One of my closest friends is a senior civil servant who transferred into the civil service from the military and occsionally works in Downing Street.
The issue of this supposed security threat is what winds him up most. To paraphrase him, "driving to your parents house for your mum and wife's birthdays is not on the list of sanctioned actions for staff who are close to the PM and feel under threat".

I drive a diesel and always say 'stop for petrol'.
Bad boy 4 life.

Was about to mention that too. It drives me insane.

"gas".

Verily in urban driving and also true for extraurban but only if you drive like a cock on the motorway or drive in the mountains. If, however, you cruise at a constant 65ish mph even big lumps can achieve those claimed mpgs because there´s no stopping and starting or pointless accelerating and braking cycles. We have a VW Caddy Maxi CNG (very heavy because of those gas bottles strapped underneath) and I regularly exceed the manufacturer´s extraurban mpg claim with shitloads of people and bikes and luggage inside. Ditto for a Focus diesel. Obviously results will improve drastically if you reduce cruise speed.
Also, I had no idea the Disco was so low nowadays. The boot in the news footage looked so tiny that I assumed it was an Evoque. What a pointless thing then. Where do one´s hunting hounds go?
-
• #13599
"gas"
This is even more infuriating as we put actual gas into the van to make it go.
-

Where do one´s hunting hounds go?
One doesn't own one's own hounds. The hounds are kept by the hunt. So the Disco only has to tow the horsebox with your hunter in it. The kennelman or kennel huntsman will deal with the hounds. And he'll have Landy. Or a Hilux.
Judging by the news footage he has an Evoque, which is a fairly low and light "crossover" that´s usually sold as front (two) -wheel drive. It´s not a four by four. If it´s a diesel it´s easily capable of 500 miles on a single tank. Not defending Mr Cummings, just car chat derail.
