Be thankful you don't live in the sticks and the neighbour's kid is into motorcross and rides a 2-stroke dirt bike around every day for 8 hours (or until he crashes it).
-
• #13835
Wasn’t that you in your youth?
-

Ha! It's a banging tune
-

Until I joined this place I'd only ever heard gay people use it as a term for straight people
Same
-
• #13839
hmmm it's almost as if words (for better or worse) become normalised outside of their initial usage with use, over time.
how many of you (including me) have used the term "boomer" of late?
millennials only!
-
• #13840
And there was I thinking appropriation was frowned on.
-
• #13841
ok breeder.
-
• #13842
What, like 'gay'?
I had never heard 'breeder' used before LFGSS, but I left the bright lights in 2002, I sort of assumed it referred to the smug X5 brigade as described by Hippy.
Yeah, ok Boomer....
-
• #13843
What, like 'gay'?
are you suggesting that people that have kids who insist on routinely imposing them into inappropriate environments share a level of grievance with a historically victimised minority who have been treated like second class citizens because of who they choose to have relationships with?
yikes.
-
• #13844
Ah yes, like 'mongs'.
-
• #13845
No, I most certainly am not, I was actually agreeing with your comment that language evolves by the usage of words becoming normalised outside of their initial use. 'Gay' is an excellent example of this.
-
• #13846
ah right, sorry for presuming otherwise, it's getting a snootch salty in here.
fwiw, 'Gay' as an epithet is terrible and i'm pretty sure we're all happy to see its use is very much in decline for all the right reasons.
As is "mong / div", a word i recall being called out for using previously and one that i similarly recall correcting myself for.
anyway. i've run out of own-brand vodak and i fucking hate that.
have a lovely evening.

The crackling and banging is uncombusted fuel lighting off in the exhaust - could be it's own thing but I believe it's meant to resemble WRC anti-lag.
My old Volvo would shoot flames out of the exhaust if you abruptly shut the throttle from wide open, which was just the last bit of fuel that was injected as the throttle was shut that therefore didn't combust fully. We could have tuned it to keep injecting fuel for a second or so after the throttle was shut to make the crackles and bangs, but honestly that never occurred to me as a thing to do.
I think he is saying that straight people coopting gays people's language to demonstrate their edginess is a bit pathetic. If he is I think I agree.
