  • Would anyone be able to help make a couple of custom sessions for me? The download for the builder won’t work on my Mac

  • Can't you do it online?

  • Can’t see how.

@hippy it’s more the age of the Mac I think sadly

  • Fuck. Just added another 23W. So, I've now bested my indoor AND outdoor FTP PBs.

  • Thaaaaaats lockdown

  • Do you need my login details or just create and send to me?

  • I think I can only share if we are in a 'team'. Otherwise yes login and create as you.

  • Yeah, seems pretty fucking pointless with no racing on but I guess it's adding something healthy to my day and the very fact I had a Ramp Test meant it was the first night I'd not had a drink for maybe a fortnight/month.

  • LOL @ "Wilhelm +5 consists of 7x5-minute repeats at 108% FTP separated by 5-minute recovery" after FTP bump. I think it was better than last time I did this jump, in that I managed 1 full interval and a second one with a pause before quitting.

I'm not sure how much thought they put into the base -> build jump. Think they should start with either reduced number of intervals or reduced duration for the first x weeks.

I'll have another crack at the next one and then decide whether or not to bother or just do another 6 weeks of sweetspot.

  • Next one: "Fang Mountain +3 is 6x9-minute over-under intervals with 1-minute valleys at 95% FTP and 2-minute peaks that ascend to 110% FTP. Recoveries between OU's are 6 minutes long."

Do they think I'm still racing crits?

  • 7x5-minute repeats at 108% FTP

  • I managed 1 full interval and a second one with a pause before quitting.

I haven’t used TR for a while now and this reminds me why I stopped. I found the jump to be so hard sometimes that I would go into sessions feeling properly apprehensive, which led to general lack of motivation.

Saying that, this lockdown (and my new pizza oven) mean that I urgently need to get back on it.

  • Yeah, definitely went into this thinking "no fucking way, but I'll give it a crack" but at the same time I wasn't angry when I failed it. If I fail the sweetspot stuff that I've been nailing I get proper shitty :)

So, I'll give 'Fang Mountain +3' a go and make a call based on progress. If it's fucked, I'm going back to base sweetspot - it's more useful to me anyway considering I never go near VO2max in racing these days. Although I'm reading PJ's Corinthian Endeavour at the moment so now I want to race a hill climb again... if only to remind myself why I don't bother.

  • Yep, that, just with slightly longer hair and less brother/sister action.

  • I'll have another crack at the next one and then decide whether or not to bother or just do another 6 weeks of sweetspot.

With no races for the foreseeable future, I've given up on the Trainerroad training program, and am mainly doing sweetspot sessions. I might up the intensity in a month or so, but I'd be surprised if there are races this year. Hard to see how you can socially distance in a cross race.

  • Good book. May read again this year.

  • It'd be easy for me, I'd be so far out the back it'd be a solo ride until I was lapped and then I can go home. ;)

  • Finished it tonight. Now do I read I Like Alf or should I give another author a go?

  • Chatting to a friend in Spain tonight: "By the look of things you will be able to travel to Spain from end of June onwards so races are likely to go ahead in my opinion."

Maybe if I travel with my Aussie passport they won't think I've been using my 'British common sense' and actually be allowed in..

  • I've not finished two TR workouts in a row which is annoying and not like me, I may be a weakling but I'm pretty good at pushing myself quite hard.

They both have blocks close to FTP with sprint 'spikes' of higher wattage. I literally couldn't finish either, my energy/power just fell away and I was forced to give up on both.

Any idea what gives? They were Clark and Jepson.

I am not a sprinter by any means and I feel like I just don't have powerful enough legs for what it's asking me to do.

  • Those sort of sessions are horrible.
You don't have to do every interval is what I've found. Maybe do every other spike?

  • Hit pause and/or knock them back 5% and then try to bump things back up to 100% later in the sesh. Negative splits and that.
