Definitely worth stiffening it up.
Did some cycle touring southern Italy on a foldable last year. Very surprised that the old gas pipes didn't break but the flex made for some sketchy descents.
Excited to see the finished product.

Yeah I'm surprised I never snapped that Puch picnic when I had it, it flexed something rotten!
It's the paint on klunker you're asking about yeah? It was a yellow spraypaint as the base then pretty much just suspended the frame from the headtube and poured a little pot of turquoise paint over it, Painters Touchor something like that from B&Q. Same stuff as the orange I used to do the splatter paint on the lugged road fixed frame.

Chucked the old toptube from my Surly 1x1 into the scrap pile project in hopes of making it a bit stiffer.
