Jesus Christ, I clearly need a coffee.

Both of us... It took me 5 attempts to get mine to show right :)

Buy cheap, buy twice! 💃

Oh lol. True.
But maybe this is an opportunity to redeem my ethics. Or am I now forever tarnished as Mr Bootleg?

I was replying to your post about the scales - I was trying to ascertain their durability.

Hi guys, I'd like to try to roast coffee beans myself, any good place where to get them from?
With a nice selection of African beans in particular?
I've got the Zenroast coffee roaster, fyi. -

Yellow Bourbon are selling green beans ATM

Cool I'll check them out.

Oops sorry - only a few months so far so I can’t comment. I don’t know if paying 3-5x for scales will have a huge effect on durability. I mean we’re talking about consumer electronics in the kitchen right? There aren’t any serviceable parts or anything that wears out in either, the premium is for brand, aesthetics etc
Edit: maybe warranty I guess

I don’t know if paying 3-5x for scales will have a huge effect on durability.
In this case though, the scales in question are designed specifically for heat and water environments (and in some cases aluminium not plastic) so I'd expect them to last way longer than my 'not even slightly waterproof' druggie scales.

These look relatively similar to the ones @freddo has and are also advertised as waterproof.

Though my not even slightly waterproof druggie scales were bought around 2009 for less than £10 and are still going strong.

Sweet thanks!

I just picked up this metal filter, the 10k one. It’s great! Absolutely zero sediment in the cup. Bendy too.

the 10k one
Given the last few pages of discussion I was expecting that to be the price ;)
They look good though, my Aeropress is only used for in-office coffee so have plenty of time to research. Keep us posted on how you get on with it.

Gave my dad an August hub coffee tamper for his birthday today. A joy to use and much better than the tiny plastic (underfitting) one we used to use

Lol. I wouldn’t put it past me.
I’ll keep you updated after some more use.

I’ll take it if it’s not gone to someone else 🙂

I might have missed it up thread – what’s your recipe and method for cold brew?
-
• #17949
I’m a big cold brew fan so I’ll jump in. 100g coffee per litre of filtered water, coarsely ground. Put everything in a sealed container in the fridge for a minimum of 24h. Turn or agitate gently every 4h. Then filter through a v60.

If you don't have any V60/filter could you just let it settle out like a Turkish/Kawa Po Turecku?
