Members of the Danish National Chamber Orchestra playing Tango Jalousie -
while eating the worlds hottest chili peppers.
The orchestra is conducted by Chili Klaus - a Danish Chili Pepper enthusiast.

  • Had 20 or so assorted very ripe fruits left so just chopped the furry stems off, blanched them, then whizzed them up with 6 cloves garlic, 1 medium onion, juice of a lime & 60ml cider vinegar. Boiled it up & had just enough to fill an encona bottle.

Result is a very tasty and hot but bearable ketchup style sauce.

    Crappy phone pic.

  • I have nothing exciting to swap so I'm out this year.

In other news the replacement sauce I made leaves a very satisfying prolonged aftertaste, however that comes at the cost of being pretty much unbearably hot upfront and (tmi) on exit. (/tmi)

  • First chilli of the year coming through already!

  • 14 mystery assorted (not exciting) seeds germinated so far, exciting times.

  • Almost seem a luxury item now. Got close to 30 seedlings in total if anyone in mcr wants a socially distanced handed over plant or two...

These are off to the Polytunnel today.

  • I wouldn't mind a little'n or two, would give the kid something to do while she's off school. I'm mobile mechanicing vaguely round your ends tomorrow so can come pick them up from where you leave them, then we can wave at each other.

  • These are off to the Polytunnel today.

missed those moody square chili photos

  • Cool, I'll pm you.

  • I'll try to keep them coming!

P.s. Those plants didn't travel well, so no end pic. :(

  • Just got a bottle of this. It's really good!

  • Bunch of seeds in, knocked up a wee greenhouse of sorts with our old windows. Last year my crop took over the house, so figured I needed to get them outside this year. I’m a bit late getting them in tho.

  • A selection from the crop, trying a bit harder this year and they are looking much better but made a few errors in letting them get cold. I've got most of them on heat pads now which has made a huge difference.

    From the left

    1. Serrano
    2. Serrano but stored in a warmer/sunnier window.
    3. Lemon drop
    4. Demon red
  • Looks like a happy bunch of plants!

May I advise giving them their final (read: biggest possible) pots with nice, fluffy soil (like for tomatoes) right now (plus as much light as possible obviously).

  • When you say 'right now', do you think they are ready? or do you mean, when I do pot them up, use nice fluffy soil?

It still seems a bit cold to put them in their final pots out on the balcony.

  • Yea, definitely don't put them outside yet (assuming you live in Britain),
but (if you have the space to do so) give them their final (big as possible) pots now,
so their roots can go deep and develop nicely as soon as possible.
This will signal the plant it has the opportunity to grow big.

  • Thanks, gives me something to do with the weekend!

  • Yes the TK Maxx selection is good. The local butcher sells a Smokey Naga sauce, I couldn’t help my self and made the purchase.. but the ruin your dinner potential is quite high !!

  • This is banging. Treads the line of enhancing or destroying a meal based on quantity used, tastes amazing but pretty hot!

  • Up potted most the crop but running out of big pots - gave a few away to neighbours who have a veg patch. Got into a habbit of bringing them inside at night and onto heat pads.

A few started to produce buds and I'm going with the concensus to remove them and let the plants get bigger(?). Hopefully some truth in that.

    They've become pandemic pets.

  • Anyone got any suggestions for interesting hot sauces? Looking for something shit hot but still tasty, not just pure heat. Needs to be vegan. Was gutted when I actually read the label of that Khoo's sauce I posted up thread and saw that it has honey in it!
