Have owned / do own both, SON is better because weather sealed...
I feel the SON is brighter but probably just my mind...

Are sinewave beacon a no-no for road riding? Why don’t they make a asymmetric beam...

mines been great the last year.

Wow, didn’t know anyone on here had actually bought one.
Was thinking about the ‘robust’ price of them yesterday, then meh - as I recalled my shock earlier in the day at how mind-bendingly pricey a decent Abus lock costs.

i didnt buy one at RRP - youmadbro. heavy discount because slightly imperfect.

Yep. Had one about two years now. Faultless. Very pretty thing.
Spenny tho.

My supernova has to go back for warranty, not impressed as it’s only two months old. Not really looking at replacing it, just annoying and it make you start looking elsewhere.

what is wrong with it?

Standlight stopped working, then started again and now it’s not worked for the past two weeks. They have no issue with me returning it but I’m waiting until my commute is a little brighter.

Aha that worked for you as well then?
Yours have a slightly skewiff USB port too or something else? -

The Beacon is not the holy grail of lighting unless you are an actual professional ultra bike racer, it is pretty neat tho. Don’t pay anything like the full price for it.

I did email them and ask off your suggestion but they said they didn't have any like that atm.
But got lucky on here a few weeks later. -

Spa Cycles are doing wheel build plus front and rear lights as bundles at the moment. For £10 extra they’re building me a wheel with a wider rim so am finally joining the dynamo world. Just in time for cancelled audax season and long summer days.

This.
It's a lovely bit of kit. But Defs a want not a need.
And silly money at full whack.

Quick question - while waiting for new dynamo to arrive what size/diameter heat shrink should I order (does it matter)?
-
• #2818
What dynamo? Most I have come with some.
-
• #2819
Busch and muller, but someone suggest I’d need extra. Will wait till it arrives and see what’s in the box.

Be aware that heat shrink comes in different types with different shrink ratios.
Most common being 2:1 and 3:1, for connectors 3:1 is better. -

Thanks for the tip. Just purchased a front mudguard mount from Isen Workshop as it’s going an old arkose - carbon forks and no front brake mount hole. Ordered some black spray paint to match the mudguards. Nice little project to keep me occupied.

I've got an assortment box (thanks Lidl or maybe Aldi) of heat shrink so if you need some when you get it, PM me and I'll send you some

Nice one, will do!

Yup done several for customers. There's a guy Peter White cycles has an old looking but surprisingly current page with them.
They come with good shrink wrap but i or too shrink wrap over my shrink wrap, also pack it with dielectric grease, just everything to make sure it survives our wet. Climate.
The junction box and other fittings are excellent, quality of the cable is v high, would love to have a reel of it on hand! -

Just realised I never hit reply!
Thank you, that all makes sense.
Yes, its one of the d1 Igaros, and they just confirmed that they will put a son plug on for me.
But as I barely installed a headset on the bike this is all a bit early.
Same location for both. The first would be a bracket on which the existing light mounts. The second would be all of that in one unit rather than needing to bolt the two together. Saves the need for the wings on the light for the 50mm spaced holes
