  • Thanks for the tip!

  • Ah yes. Thanks

  • <3 for The Angel & the bike, of course.

  • That will be very similar to what I'm aiming for, but with flat swept bars. What size are those tyres and how did you get on with mudguard fitting please?
I just ordered some of these:

which I may use or some Jones H bend...

@Turkish i've had enough of my CDF now, front wheel got written off after I got hit by a car, so I've decided to strip it for parts and sell the f&f. For a start the Vagabond as much bigger HT which is better for me. This build is really more of a better fitting version of my Scott mtb conversion, with 29x2" instead of 27.5x2"

    think these kind of vibes

@amey @cake funnily enough, I don't like the colour much either.

  • Get it powdercoated white for @Hulsroy

  • He used to say he hated red bikes, until he got one himself

  • What are you on about?

  • I am fairly certain I have made exceptions like: Ritchey Swiss cross, Richard Sachs and old Bridgestones

  • Haha. I agree then. It should be primer grey tho...

  • primer grey

Reminds me of one of @Dammit 's

  • Looks like PhilDAS is going to take it, will shoot you a message if that doesn't work out!

  • Beautiful, looking forward to it being finished.

  • But 2020 is all about building fixed gears again...

  • Those are panaracer gravelling sk 43mm and pdw 45mm guards. Tight but fits! Will probably go with 38 or 40mm tyres next time.

Not that easy to fit as the bridges are still quite far from the tyre. ended up using p-clips and bodging. Fit is perfect in the front with the thorn touring fork though!

  • Do you get much side-spray with mudguards so close in size to the tyres?

  • Im going to be using 2"/50mm tyres so it would move the guards closer. I think I'll also get the bridges modified to with an eyelet in each so making fitting things a tad easier too.
Out of interest why did you change forks?

  • It was an experiment as I already had the thorn forks. They have a shorter a-c so lower the front end and lower the trail. I played around with the geometry a bit on one of the online calculators and now it has a trail of about 40mm I think. Handles really well with low riders/basket (proper hands off through turns on descents!). Increased toe overlap a minor inconvenience.

I still have the original forks with Blackburn anything cages strapped to them and use them if I want to do bike packing/off roading. I wish they had put 3 bolts instead of 1 - one day I'll have them added.

Thorn fork and 43mm tyres for road touring/commuting.
Original fork and 2.2" tyres for bike packing.

    Jekyll and Hyde!

  • . I wish they had put 3 bolts instead of 1 - one day I'll have them added.

Yeah I'd probably get that added at the same time I got the bridge eyelets

  • At the same time I can recommend adding a braze on to the seat stay as well to mount extra bottle cages! The rack eyelet works well as the bottom bottle mount. Comes in very handy for the 3 for £5 beer offers. Wine bottles also just clear the heal 👌

Actually I'd also remove the exposed gear shifter cable stopouts and replace with full length housing mounts. A few times I've had to upend the bike and de-clog the cable under the bottom bracket of mud so I could change gear

  • If you can't add a braze-on I have used a lot of electrical tape in the past for the top mount, mudguard mount for the bottom.
    Worked fine.

  • Yeah I've used zipties and it's worked fine. Actually it's the planet X steel cages that have broken. Beer bottles are wider than water bottles!

    That's a idea yea
