  • 1970, in a suburban street in Maryland, Ludd was introduced to PBJ sandwiches. He has never looked back. The only deviation in the last 50 years has been to try out the combination of crunchy PB, Philadelphia and chopped celery on brown bread.

  • £21 with a code... but I have 7.5kg of PB sitting here...

  • All this chatter about pb
Made me butter my home baked sourdough bread, with Meridian and honey.
    Not good for my bp
    Yet so delicious

  • Neat recovery!

  • I must have this! Where might one acquire such a thing?

  • Everyone loves peanut butter. I prefer almonds for health because I've got tiny children who prevent me from engaging in narcissistic levels of exercise. I like when markets have a selection of nuts which you can then grind for yourself fresh.

Cashews, peanuts, almonds, add salt or not.... Etc.

You can also make it your self with a good blender or processor.

  • Margarine peanut butter, salad cream and crisps in white bread was the sarnie of choice as a kid. I made one the other day still tastes good esp with salt and vinegar crisps.

  • Never tried pb on toast, only bread. Had imagined it’d be too dry on toast.

Don’t have any in the flat just now, adding it to the shipping list for next week though!

  • Concord grape. But you can't get that here. Black currant is a fine alternative.

Also - side bar - why I grew up with concord grape instead of black currant jam

  • My daughter had her one and only experience of peanut butter 19 years ago on her first birthday. We then discovered what anaphylaxis is all about. Now she likes this stuff which, if you don't know any different, is an acceptable alternative.

  • Interesting. What’s it made of?

  • Yep. My mother is similarly afflicted and likes that. Soya, isn't it?

  • The issue I find is that if she doesn't eat it regularly it separates the solids are quite solid.

  • Pip & Nut smooth is a bit grim. It’s all liquidy and oily.

  • This stuff is a savoury overload.

  • My cousin (youngest of 4) had an allergic reaction to nuts when he was young. Spent all night in the hospital, only for the exhausted mother to make him a PB sandwich when they got home. Turns out he's fine with Peanuts!

  • 50 years of thinking I hated PB ended last month since then I’ve eaten 3kg.
On rice cakes then marmite this has been scientifically proven to be best because PB is short on the amino thingy beginning with T that marmite has loads of...and it tastes best.

  • From the first bite of peanut butter on toast, screaming in pain, near unconsciousness, blue light ambulance run, adrenalin shot to carrying her out of the A&E was a little over an hour. Nothing like it has happened since but we have EpiPens.

  • Meridian Crunchy here by the big tub.

Intrigued by Pistachio butter now I know it is a thing.

  • Ha ha. Perhaps a bit harsh to complain that a product containing a paste of a legume that contains 50% fat is too oily :D

  • This thread really took off.

mad 4 it. Now fully accustom to the pip and nut. Will session the Meridian next. On toast with sliced banana drizzle of honey and topped with sesame seeds.

  • Marmite PB is just outrageously good and a jar lasts about a week in our house but for the best PB - M&S crunchy in a glass jar is the big titties .

    Go buy some .

And finally, a friend told me about Sriracha on PB on toast for breakfast. With a black coffee, it's a great meal.
