  • I've been playing it since launch, well GTA:O, which is the longest I've played any game ever, still find bits of the map I've never been too and still impressed by the graphics from time to time, just have to land my harrier jump jet and enjoy the view. Still though, driving on keyboapukes on cock

  • Well, I thought driving it gonna be a 2/10 experience and I'd give it a solid 6.
However, flying is definitely a 2.
I was like 19 or something when it came out as well so just wanted action and didn't really take much notice of the cut scenes. Am not skipping them this time. Man, the writing is so good.

  • i feel dirty but i am rather enjoying The Division 2.

    deathvirus + guns + amurrrker!

    can't be arsed with multiplayer.

  • It does a very good job of getting the adrenaline flowing. The urge to just run is very strong at points even though you know it means certain death.

  • Started RDR2 last night, mainly snow horses in the few moments I got, but I want more despite the somewhat confusing controls.

  • Deep dive from the ringer on how and why 2000 was a breakout year for female protagonists in fps’

  • Let's play.

I prefer the first I think.

    NYC > DC

  • As others have said, its a game that rewards taking things slowly. Took me a while to get into it but really loved it once I had all the pc launch problems sorted.

  • The beginning of RDR2 is so fucking slow. Worth sticking with though.

  • I'd forgotten how annoying it was to have my brain automatically convert that acronym to "R2D2" a thousand times a day, thanks for the reminder everyone

  • And with botw, well I can see that being irritating also

  • Without wanting to bring up factional rivalries, should I get a PS4 or Xbox one, primarily for the child to play Minecraft on?

Both consoles are pretty much the same really. Does one do something non game related that the other doesn't? Eg stream music, work as a home hub, make tea etc?

  • My ps4 will make hot water boil after a few hours..

  • With Minecraft being owned by Microsoft, the Xbox is the best environment for it.

Also Game Pass is the best value for money in terms of low cost gaming at the moment.

  • Comparison table here: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-ps4/

Can't imagine the Microsoft purchase of Minecraft would have much of an impact on the base game as I think the console release was prior to the buy-out. Might be a factor in nice-to-haves going forward (apparently Realms isn't available on PS4 as per the table above, though I have no idea what that actually is)

  • cool. Realms is a thing that is desireable. Not sure what it is.

  • I take every game slow so that's fine, mainly been playing poker and dominoes so far.

  • Next gen console hardware is very impressive. Surely being a game designer is getting harder and harder with more and more intricate textures and models? How long must it take to design some of the static models in that demo? I mean, they're just so detailed....

  • Aren't gamepass and ps now the same price now days?

@moocher it's worth getting the same system as your friends if they play.

  • Pretty damn impressive

  • They're getting closer but Game Pass is still a better service - most of the PS Now games are stream only, with quality being a bit shit, and all new Xbox studio games arrive on day one on the Game Pass library. PS Now is still mostly focussed on older titles. Then there's the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which bundles with Live and makes it cheaper than PS Now and PS Plus together.

  • Personally I think it's a very bad thing. Huge investment required for all that additional modelling work means publishers are going to be wanting a safer ROI. Look forward to endless yearly rehashes of the best selling franchises. Of course people can still make great games with lo-fi art assets, but when your average consumer sees renders like that, their expectations are set a bit unrealistically. All IMO of course.

  • Well very impressive
However we are in an era of diminishing marginal returns
Compared with jumps from, say PS1 to PS2 which was radical with the level of 3D rendering, the jump from PS4 to 5 is pretty minimal considering the time investment likely for graphics over gameplay
    (wot Mick said)

  • Not that I have a gaming PC but it just means that stuff has caught up to half decent gaming PCs for a while.
