  • Nice bike. Sorry.

  • hahaha Dodgy bastards! All blatantly stolen parts. It seems that my frame must have been sawn in half and then taken through the lock and although the most expensive part of the bike, it allowed them to breakdown and sell off the rest of it.

  • Usual shite English... "if you live out side the UK please massage me before bidding"

  • Just catching up here. "I've found more cached results"

    What does this mean?

  • Look at the state of just some of his previous sales, he must be a VERY keen cyclist...

  • That's lovely, best of luck on this.

  • I had a news story pop up from Sussex Police today, the story is actually a week old but may still be of value if you've had a bike stolen from south London down to Brighton.
41 bikes recovered with the police image below...

  • Hmm yeah that does scream dodgy.

  • I haven't applied yet because I'm waiting to see if my gf from LA can enter early June for a month so we can see an immigration lawyer regarding her visa options. She was going to apply for tier 2 work visa as a chef but no one will be recruiting for the foreseeable, so we're looking at spouse visa options for the calendar year. So, basically, until I know 100% how what I apply for in terms of financial help affects her visa options, I can't help for financial help yet.

Not relevant to stolen bikes, but if you want to chat about spouse visas I can help. I would avoid paying an immigration lawyer. Send me a PM.

  • All these people buying stolen goods. If everyone was more careful about who they were purchasing from, the problem would all but disappear. I don't believe that people are purposefully handing stolen goods.

  • Some people just don't give a shit. I used to work with a bloke who tried to sell me a bike that he bought "at a car boot sale". It was that year's version of the spec roubaix and not the bottom end one either and he'd bought it for something like 20% of list price although it was obviously basically brand new.

I told him it was almost certainly stolen (didn't seem shocked) and he should either have called the police or at least walked away with it and his response was "Well someone else would have made money instead of me then". He wasn't really that dodgy a personality but for him, HE didn't steal it so he was just buying a used bike.

  • This is the exception rather than the rule though

  • Whenever I see an eBay or Gumtree listing with something high end they obviously haven't got a clue about, or just list the manufacturer spec, I always have a look at their previous sales or other items, to see if they look hooky. I'm not in a minority on here.

  • Hey everyone!

Devastated to say my Pinnacle Arkose D1 (only 5 months old) was stolen from my houseboat in Clapton, east London by a gang of teenage boys. I had forgotten to lock it for the first time ever it seems, and I saw them through the window but couldn't get outside quick enough.

It's size S, Kingfisher blue/green. Had switched the standard tyres for black marathon pluses with a white edge (pictured) and added a pannier and mudguards. Hefty Abus bordo lock sitting useless on the frame :(

I'm just trying to flood the internet and marketplaces with pics of it so someone might spot it somewhere. They were like 16 year old chancers, not professionals so I'm hoping they may do something stupid that allows me to track it down.

Have reported to the police so I have a crime ref no.

    Thank you!

  • Sorry to hear that.
From reading other posts here I think Facebook Marketplace is the go-to place for shifting stolen bikes. Unlike eBay you can't see past sold items so it's harder to track down after the fact. Check gumtree and Shpock as well.
    Good luck!

  • No audit trail in Facebook Marketplace? How cynical.

  • How can one access detail?
Difficult to tell from one unclear picture.

  • Hey,

My mum just had her orbea boulevard stolen from Herne hill, nothing special about it. Pretty much to spec from this picture.

    Appreciate if you see anything.

    Sam
