Why not suggest picking something up secondhand from eBay or the classifieds here? Obviously saddles are very personal so it's impossible to point to a particular model and say "that will be comfortable". If they're not sure what they want it might be best to try a few different types out before settling on one. I can't imagine second hand saddles deprecate much if they're sold on in the same condition they're bought. Once they've worked out what's comfortable they can decide what's more important to them, cost (keep second hand version) or weight (buy posh, carbon railed version of same saddle or whatever).

Unfortunately we're kind of in the hinterland when it comes to most things so there's a dearth of saddlewise options that could even be considered for secondhand. He's currently trying to break in a green Brooks B17 that he got cheap from CR. Having trouble getting comfortable on it which is odd because he previously had a B17 Special that I gave to him which he loved until trashing it while out on a ride.
So my cousin is on the hunt for a lightweight, cheap, strong, comfortable saddle.
Which two should he focus on? I'd say forget about lightweight for starters.
