• Can’t remember if I posted much about this frame, its another gravel fixed frame.

This one has a slacker head angle and more bb drop. Should make it better suited to gravel riding as the crackled frame is very steep and tight so my plan had been to keep this new one and move on the crackle painted one but the lore I ride that one, the more I love it.

Anyway, this new one will be one of the frames/bikes I take to Bespoked which is meant to be happening right now. I did put this on the back burner to get the truck done once I got word Bespoked was postponed but it’s definitely good to not have had to rush it!

I like the vertical dropouts and ebb I put in my first klunker frame so have done the same here. Dropouts saves from a frame I cut up for other stuff. Driveside chainstay yoke to avoid needing to simple the stay like I did on the crackled frame.

The bilam style bits came about as a happy accident, I cocked up attaching the headtube/downtube sub assemble to the seattube/bb and had to chop it off!

  • Looking good already, I’m into the asymmetric chain stays. What’s the plan for fork and bars ?

  • Fork and seatstays both use pacenti crowns. Bars, I’ll probably build it with risers/swept back bats but like I say, I think I’ll be keeping the crackle one so will probably sell this one as a frameset after bespoked.

  • Yoke is looking boss brazed in place.

What clearance has it given you?

  • The clearance is no better than on the crackled frame, 43c GravelKing with some mudroom, but there are no dimples in anything this way.

I think getting anything more in there with a 120mm hub and track chainline would take some serious doing.

  • Are you planning on taking commissions? Loving your work so far!

  • Yeah that is sweet. It will be solid.

  • They're on here I think... @Kang

  • Definitely. I had imagined I might pick up a commission or two at Bespoked. Current sitch has kinda put all that on hold.

  • Loving the look of this!
Looking forward to see the finished frameset.

  • Looking like this today, will try to finish it by the end of the week, will post pics if you guys are interested

  • That looks superb, love the paintwork and the addition of the Fox fork.

  • I’ve been watching @🅑🅐🅣🅣’s and @rawmeat’s Twenty projects and, despite having a scratch built version of my bmx minivelo about 75% complete, have decided that I’d like to built something like one of them.

As it’s not really something I need, I decided to try to build the frame from my scrap pile as much as possible.

This has been done totally without plans or drawings of anything so we will see how it comes out!

The I’ve used a bit of unsullied good new tubing for the main tube as I didn’t think a butted tube would be up to the task. The seattube was a downtube that I cocked up and brazed a headtube to squint, it had 3 bottle cage holes drilled in it so an off cut of slightly larger tubing has covered up two of those. Bb and chainstays were from a frame that I’d picked up somewhere along the way and never used. It was a tiny size, with a really short 1” headtube and already a cut n shut so at least this was some of it will see some use. I’ll be adding bracing at both ends of the main tube.

Plan is to use a bmx handlebar to get the height I need. Or build it a handlebar. Hmmm...

  • Love the idea of building frames out of old bits of tubing from other bikes

  • The klunker king looks sooo good. Really like the paint job. Homebrew as well?

  • Cheers, yeah, was getting sick of the shitty hammerite job. Woulda got it powder coated but lockdown.

  • Chucked the old toptube from my Surly 1x1 into the scrap pile project in hopes of making it a bit stiffer.
