Barcelona ...

I don't get the logic of having everyone do the same thing at the same time. Eg children going out are going to be more likely in proximity, commuting to work leads to crowded public transport (and no allotted time to come home?)
-
• #11705
So all commuting has to be done within that one hour?
Seems fairly counterintuitive? -

And then you all started banging on about fuck knows what.
That's every thread lately

I'm waiting to hear how this works out from my brother in Barcelona.

Ooh a new, almost empty thread with just @ChainBreaker talking to himself.

I except they’re build and designed, along with the staffing levels, to be reactive. The first patients will be there to test it I guess.

parliament is suspended
It's not, it's gone virtual, for good reasons.

make some threads nonsensical
This was mainly what I was thinking about when I said upthread that I didn´t understand ignore. It´s like watching a filim you like and muting the sound whenever an actor you don´t like appears in a scene.
-
• #11712
It's quite useful when you're watching a film that includes a couple of actors that are standing just in shot, spouting utter horseshit that isn't part of, and doesn't contribute any value to the scene or film.

Hearing a scientist trying to stay on the governments line last night was a bit painful to watch.
He must know that the scientists working with government are gonna be fucked over royally by the Tories at some point, and the whole "we're following the science" Cummings slogan that Ministers are trotting out at every difficult question is there to shift the blame onto the scientific advisors at a later point? "we aren't responsible for the choices made during the crisis, we just followed the scientific advice. Blame them, not us"
What a position to be in.

Going to be savage when Chris Whitty gets slaughtered, hope he’s been taking thorough notes at each meeting to protect himself. Bojo not at PMQ today... what a surprise.
-
• #11715
I'm not convinced Chris Whitty is blameless in where we find ourselves. I think he and Vallance were integral to the 'herd immunity' / delayed lockdown / 'behavioural science' strategy that contributed to where we are.
-
• #11716
TBH he was in intensive care 10 days ago.
-
• #11717
See - the blame shifting is working!
-
• #11718
They gave the advice, the government made the decision.

He came out the other day and said he was raring to go and fit for work. If he's not well enough to do the job, then he can go back on sick leave.
-
• #11720
Said he was raring to go, can’t have it both ways.
-
• #11721
Hes not taking it. He's not really fit enough to be working, is he? Being part time Prime Minister isn't going to work.
edit they just announced he's been at the hospital as his babys arrived. Games playing - they could have said that last night, instead of dicking about with "will he, won't he" political games.
-
• #11722
He’s not doing it because another one of his innumerable spawn just dropped
Which, while I despise the man, is a pretty good excuse
-
• #11723
Fuck this shit, there's now going to be loads of coverage of his bouncing baby now instead of the thousands of dead.
He should be on paternity leave for a few weeks now then, straight after being off sick, but do we think that's going to happen?
Also, I thought fathers aren't allowed to go to hospital at the moment? More special treatment for Boris?

• #11724
Hmmm - and today is the day they agree to announce the care home numbers. Wonder why?
This is all based on me understanding what the Spanish PM just said, so it is likely just the gist.
