Lovely bike indeed. Would it be possible to unwrap the bartape on the front-brake side to move the STI lever inwards (or go the opposite way and just take it out completely) so you have enough hose to push down the NDS fork hose hole/leg so you have enough give to take out the fork? That sounds like the only way to do it if you want to avoid a hose replacement (or shortening) on the front side. You might get away with not disconnecting the hose from the caliper since you'll pull the fork down as you move the STI inwards and have more and more hose length.
Disclaimer: Not a bike mechanic, don't take my advice seriously :) Good luck.

Just ordered something from Tweeks - will it ever arrive?
-
• #101929
Yeah. Bought stuff from them multiple times

Why thank you. All my own work, I'm happy to say. Quite proud of that one.

Sadly that won't work - the bars are 3T Ergonovas, so they have flattened tops and the shifters won't slide over them:
And there's not enough spare hose at the caliper end to get the shifter off the end of the bar.

Have you bought it yet?
-
• #101933
Oh well... If I loosen the screw on my shifters, the screw and the bracket come out at either side (front/back) so I can directly remove it from the bar without any sliding whatsoever. It's a faff to get them back on but I've managed to do it on multiple occasions... That might be the case with yours too. My experience is with st-r505's and st-r8020's.

The R785 shown has the same bracket design. Just keep unscrewing till it comes off the bracket.

If I wanted to run a bolt through (i.e. not screwed into the threads of) a rack mount on some forks, what width should that bolt be?

Assuming the screw thread is the standard M5 , M4 should just about squeeze through

• #101937
It will - I've just tried it.
-
• #101938
just about squeeze
Yards of clearance, the ID of female M5 is >4.2mm, the OD of M4 male is <4.0mm

Nothing about older women or baseball cards but...?

90 hip-hop track
Check
I thought the track I was looking for was called "age ain't nothing but a number"
Check. Predates the Aaliyah one
By a teenager who was talking about seducing older women.
Kind of. It's hasn't, er, aged well.
I remember the video, he had a green top on and was singing to some girl in a playground.
Check, although the girl has the green jacket
For some reason I have in my head that he went to jail
Check
For shooting someone over baseball cards...
Unconfirmed

Aw damn, that looks more like it

• #101942
I could unscrew the shifters from the bracket, but the brake hose goes through an internal channel through the tops of the bars so they're pretty much stuck in position even without the bracket. I do like to make things difficult for myself...

No problem.
age ain't nothing but a number" but that's an Aaliyah track
Ironically, that's aged even worse

I have a timeshare, we knew that we would not be able to attend this year in May, for obvious reasons.
I have already paid our maintenance fee, this covers the cost of upkeep on the buildings in the facility as well as staff at the resort.
This morning we received official notification from the resort that they have closed for the foreseeable future, and we cannot go this year. Should I be expecting a partial refund?

Would you ride a tyre that looked like this? Old Conti Top Touring 2000. Pretty nice Otherwise so seems a shame to waste it but not sure if it's a risk.

rubber.exe has stopped working, the cracks are a sign that all the other good things about rubber will have gone down the tubes too, and quite likely the carcase too.
Oof, that is a lovely bike!
