I've had a 5, 8, 9, 10 and 12. The 8 was by far the the stiffest and felt fucking rapid but 10/12 are way more comfy. The 10 and 12 are pretty similar although the 12 does have a lot of nice features over the 10. Also the 10 is 25c max but you can get a 30/32 in a 12 with the right combo (i even fit a 33). I wouldn't build up a 12 with mechanical though, the cable routing is shockingly bad.
Tbh i would just save up/get a cycle scheme voucher for a disc 13 - it's the best one

Very nice.
Hopefully my frame will arrive early this week! -

They all feel stiff but the 12 really felt like it transferred that stiffness into forward motion rather than vertical into the saddle
I'm starting to realise that no matter how much I want to like my caad10 its maybe not for me.
It sure does feel stiff but like you say, I feel everything is just directed straight to the saddle.
Is the caad12 that much more comfortable? Caad10 is first alloy frame I've rode for years and thinking going back to carbon is the best option -

Considering their age, how do the US made Super6 fare today?

Pretty well I think, and that one has nice parts too so I say jump on it :D
I other news, I'd finally had enough of those^ Wolber Profils and got myself some much nicer, if a little heavier Ambrosio Crono F20's
Biek looks pretty much exactly the same, but rides much nicer!

Thanks that's useful. I went touring on a USA 8 so at least I know I don't need to be concerned over comfort on the later models. I agree the 13 disc makes the most sense if I want the feel of a new bike I'm just not sure I get on board with the dull looking package and trickier maintenance. At my level of riding I'm not unconvinced that with a better choice of contact points the 9 is more than good enough for me. There seem to be fewer inspiring builds on the 9 platform but this from @Harry might sway me.

Thought with the sun out, I should finally take some photos of this. It's not quite as fresh as it was when first painted, crashing tends to do that a bit

Spidering questions for my S6:
- Am I right in thinking that the Spiderings are still compatible with the cheaper non-Hollowgram SI cranks?
- Am I also right in thinking that I'll look like a bit of a wally using a Spidering with the lower-end cranks, and I should just save up my pocket money until I can go all-in, or upgrade the crank arms first?
Reasons for wanting to upgrade: Aesthetics and only aesthetics.

Do it, save the money for something else on the bike would be my thinking.

Elite Custom Race are pro-level cages that look good on modern bikes and therefore a very sound choice at an affordable price.
194cm on a 58 with 130 stem.
