I've got some spyres, Manc based which is good for you right? Dunno about rotors, I know I've got some in places I can't get to until out of lockdown, but not at home.

thanks @snottyotter and @moog
given we're not that far from each other, i'll go with snotty if that's ok. how can we do this without getting thrown in prison?

140mm/160mm rotors 6 bolt. What options are out there for matching rotors?
-
• #6481
Hope. Avid/SRAM.

Should have also added, something non the lower end of the price scale.

Shimano RT-66 is about as cheap as I would go. £13 each in some places.

Not available in 140mm according to Shimano though.

SRAM Centrelines are available in 140 and 160, and aren't too expensive. Can't think of anything cheaper which would be available in both sizes.

TRP might come in cheaper
I mean at one point I was pretty much giving them away.

• #6487
Indeed. Thanks. :-)

Ive got a pair of Spyre-Cs where the inboard adjustment screws seem to be rounded off - been using a 3mm, but it just turns. Has anyone else had this problems and sorted it? or will I be treating them like one-sided callipers from now on...

I have a few questions regarding the grx brakes. My frame has the rear brake mount spaced for 180mm rotors and ive been looking at shimanos cross compatability charts to find rotors. I dont know if this is necessary or if i could just get any 180mm rotor. What threw me off was that the xt-rotor had specced only 160mm compatability for br-rx400.

What frame are you running that's 180 only with drops? But any 180 will do, the shimano ones are good though if they're not the cheapest shimano ones.
-
• #6491
Great! Thanks. Yeah i thought the spec was a bit weird too.
The frame is from ODD Cycles that did the TGAC a year ago. Dont know if this frame has a name but it is more roadish yet still gravelly. Don’t know if its really released yet.
-
• #6492
I suspect that because GRX only comes with flat mount calipers, and there's no Shimano standard for combining FM calipers with 180mm rotors.
-
• #6493
Yeah, weird thing was that they didn’t list the br-rx810 as incompatible with the 180mm xt rotor.
Worst case scenario is me getting a pair of ugly ultegra rotors, but rather not.

Is the frame flat Mount?
-
• #6495
No, its not. I would need an adapter. I see now that the post to flat mount adapter i found only works with 140/160 rotors... fuck this drives me mad.
-
• #6496
If it's an IS/POST frame just swap out the calipers for Deore/SLX/XT depending on what you want to spend. They work fine and are loads less ugly than the adaptors.
-
• #6497
Yes thats good :-)
Is it possible to use road levers with mtb calipers though?
-
• #6498
You got the specs for the frame? I'd be surprised if it was 180min rear, that's the kind of thing that only happens on some burly MTBs, and they're usually just the regular 160 with adapters for bigger. You sure it's not 180 max?
-
• #6499
Yeah, they work fine. You'll likely need new hoses too as the SLX/XT have a banjo fitting at the caliper end, which is part of the hose unless you look at 3rd party hoses.

Looking for advice on flat bar hydraulic brakes.
Road and "gravel" duties, not downhill MTB.
What are the best value for money brakes with IS fittings?I have a limited budget and need to get my commuter built up.
Cheers
Thomas
I’ve got some Spyres and a handful of adapters (maybe only 160mm though). Also have some 160mm rotors (all used).
I’ll PM you sone details this evening, based in SE8
