Finally got around watching parasite, and I feel all the praise was well deserved. I rarely feel like that about hyped up films recently but some of the most aesthetically complete film making I have seen. The first 45 minutes or so are irresistible really.

Tonight watching Portrait of a Lady on Fire which is on Prime with a MUBI channel trial. So free basically!

Sticking with the French theme this week, pulled out A Prophet tonight, I’d forgotten just how good it is. Tres bon.

Anyone remember "Taxi" from the late 90s? The French version has this amazing opening scene with a pizza delivery moped

I've been desperate to watch Portrait of a Lady on Fire, I've heard great things. Going to wait until lockdown is over though, my housemate can't seem to watch a film without talking over it and then complaining that he can't follow it at the moment. How he's got a degree in film studies is beyond me.

Haha that sounds annoying! Would have loved to watch it in cinema, hope it gets a rerun after lockdown.

One thing I would query is the English translation of the title, makes it sound like the lyrics of a prepubescent indie rock band

It is! I wish he'd go back to quietly looking at his phone for the duration of a film and THEN complain that he couldn't follow it.

A classic from my Max Power days, I wanted a Merc 500 so badly after that movie. No surprises the director used to make adds for Peugeot, it takes a lot of vision to make a 406 cool.

Watched Us on the weekend, started strong, lost it's way a little in the middle but then came back together for the ending. Wasn't sure what I thought about it straight away after but certain elements have stuck in my head which is always a good sign. One scene in particular I found especially powerful which isn't something I experience much these days.

The Mule on the other hand, got halfway before realising how bored I was. Turned it off and found The Last Dance on Netflix (the series not the movie) which is right up my street.

Does Film4 have a rental service like BFI? I see something called Film4 On Demand but can only see it on a TV aggregate channel page. https://www.channel4.com/channel/film4 has a limited selection. I'm not very TV conversant and not subscribed to any of the big streaming services, just wondered if there was a simple thing line BFI Player, but for Film4 films.
