Kettle died. Only bought a few months ago so was annoyed at the prospect of having to buy a new one. I knew it had to be something simple as the light and switch we're staying on, just no heat. The safety cut out was also still turning the switch off when lifted off the base. Turned out a contact to the heating element had just come loose. No solder in the house so tied it down with some electrical wire I had in the toolbox.
