  • Oh yeah! They're also gorgeous!

I love the Chris Cornell Olive Drab 335 too.

Although what I've really been digging (and almost copped last week in a moment of madness...) is this Ibanez AS73OLM

    Mmm... Metallic Olive.

  • Mmmm. I love olive on a Strat as well. If I was buying a Strat, it would be this one:

  • Got a wee project brewing...

  • That's an extreme Tele

  • What's it going to be? Through body bridge? Are you making a neck as well?

  • It's going to be an electric 12-string. It'll have an offset body of an original design, with a custom pickguard (definitely) and control plates (maybe). A neck is still way outside my comfort zone, so I've ordered one from Warmoth.

It'll take a while, I need to buy a scroll saw and a router and learn how to use the router without endangering my digits. Templates and all sorts to think of as well.

  • Trying to intonate the high E on my (6-saddle bridge) Tele and the 12th note is too flat, despite backing off the saddle adjustment screw almost entirely. What are my options?

Action is fine and neck relief looks alright - Do I go for a thicker set of strings?...

  • Here's my MIJ copy, early 70's, needs some love but feels great when playing it.
Might get some different pups at some point, and get an arm for the tremelo but I never really used it. Might get a trapeze instead?

  • If the 12th fret note is flat, then the saddle is too far from the neck, so could you just find a longer adjustment screw to allow you to push it further towards the frets? Alternatively, could you tweak the saddle itself? Perhaps buy a replacement one and have at it with a file?

  • Thanks :)
I sorted the other 5 without issue, but this 6th saddle is so much further forward than the rest - aesthetically it just looks really odd too!

It's a stock mex Fender so I doubt the bridge or nut has been fitted at a wonky angle.

  • Here's a pic - Notice I've had to remove the spring from the 1st saddle and add it to the 6th so there's enough spring tension to keep the saddle forward.

  • Mine's a 22 fret - I'm not sure if that has any difference on bridge placement?

  • It just looks wrong, your top string looks way too short now...

  • Yup, something's not right there. Almost all guitars end up with the double diagonal pattern that you can see on @>>>>>> guitar above.

How are you testing the intonation? Using the 12th-fret harmonic against the 12th-fretted note?

The only other thing I can think of is that the string is fitting weirdly into the nut. (I'm no expert though)

  • Almost all guitars end up with the double diagonal pattern that you can see on @>>>>>> guitar above.

That's what I thought, and that's how my Strat is setup.

How are you testing the intonation? Using the 12th-fret harmonic against the 12th-fretted note?

12th-fret harmonic is bang on an E, and the 12th-fretted is about -25 cent flat :/

I'll stop wasting space here and get a qualified tech to look at it.

  • That does look a bit odd. It's a stock neck right? The distance from the neck to the bridge saddles should be 648 mm (25.5" scale length), and from the nut to the 12th fret should be 324mm.

    Do they match about right?

Edit - wrong neck makes no sense since you can get other strings to intonate - forget this :)

  • Went to have a look at that Junior today, shop shut for Anzac Day... Off the hook...

    Until tomorrow!! 😎

  • Get you with your shops. Lucky bastard

  • Gonna tray and pull the guts out the of the riviera and fix that wiring issue today. Wish me luck

  • It's in a Cash Converters in a very socioeconomically deprived area... I'm ready to lowball, if I can get two hundred bucks off I'll be happy... Let's see how it plays first!

  • Unless you get it for a steal I'd save my AUDs for a 335...

  • I'm gonna do both... 🤑🏌️

  • The deed is done!! AU$750!!

There's a tiny crack in the heel but I've got a three month warranty on it... Gonna take my Strat back to my guy tomorrow, he can check it over and make sure it isn't serious... Proper limed finish!! Wasn't expecting that, pics were terrible...
