First time I picked up a guitar for 20 years was when I pulled this out of the box it came in yesterday.
Already wondering why I ever stopped! That said, it's going to take a while before I'm as shit as I used to be.

I've got issues and maybe got too much time on my hands and decided to create a library of my current guitar collection... Rexter not done yet, the 9 string is a pipe dream and i've not bought a VOX G3 yet

I got excited about seeing your stealth JM build in the lineup, then realised it's still in the pipeline. Looking forward to that one.
Have you seen Deimel guitars? His Firestar model seems like your sort of vibe.

yeah, love deimel guitars! the behind pickup bridge is inspired by their firestar mostly. I'm very low on effects pedals of quality so that could be what i'll work up to.
The stealth build should only be a few weeks now I hope

Still can’t get anything sensible out of my katana 50 into some headphones. Tried both mono and stereo 1/4 jacks and into various headphones (some onaudio a9s, RHA in ears, Apple iPhone standard things).
The mono 1/4 jack basically doesn’t work - just a faint crackly sound, the stereo jack only works when the plug is half in half out, and then only into one side of the headphones.
Thing is, there are lots of questions posted asking how to get a katana working with headphones but I cant see any answers. So I’m beginning to think there’s some underlying thing (you need headphones with some impedence, or some special jack or whatever). It all feels a bit stupid though - plugging some headphones in shouldn’t be complicated.
Next step might be to get some studio monitor headphones that come with cables and jacks - AKH 240 get reasonable reviews at <50 quid. I’d happily spend the money if they work, but I’ll be pissed off to spend it and get no further along
Any pointers?

I've never had an amp with a headphones out but could it be the fact that most amps are mono and most headphones are stereo? Or is there some physical issue?
-
• #8360
yeah - so i've tried both a mono 1/4 inch jack (which splits into stereo 3.5mm) and a stereo, neither of which work. My assumption is that a phones out will be a stereo connector but with the same mono signal to each side.
Seems crazy, something that should be incredibly simple seems to cause problems for so many people

Can anyone tell me what a "natural satin" finish actually is and whether it's possible to steam out a small ding in a neck through it?
-
• #8362
I see what you mean about other people having that problem. Seems mad that a headphone out would only connect to one side. Some people seem to say it happened after a software update, so don't know if you could check settings that way? Either that or a problem with the socket itself, perhaps.

If I recall correctly for the steam method to work, the steam has to be able to penetrate into the wood.
So you could just test it. Take a drop of water, rub it over the location of the ding. If the water is pulled into the wood you're fine, if it stays at the surface and doesn't penetrate, it probably won't help steaming your neck. -

I'm strongly considering building a cheapo-ish partscaster to pass some time and have a fun project...
I'm hoping to pick up a beefy 21-fret Telecaster neck, maybe a '51 or something if I can find a reasonably priced one and some early Tele-ish pickup and hardware carry on so it's pretty much going to be a No-Caster/ Broadcaster type thing.
I've found a Reverb-seller for an unfinished pine body. Do I make a Telecaster or a Telemaster/ Jazzcaster? I just can't decide?

This page was almost a complete disaster!

Ooh, tell me more...

Sadly not mine, we're on page 335 though :)

Page 335 innit. Tele project sounds dope!

Oh la la!

Telecaster or Jazzcaster though, that is the question... I'm inclined to lean towards the Jazzcaster as it would be just a little bit different?
I would like it to be saleable on the off chance I don't get along with it or decide to sell it so I think that will actually be the dealbreaker...

Blonde 335s are handsome things, aren't they? Sigh...

I'm having a go on a Vox Lynx at the moment, which is probably the closest I'll ever get to a 335. Really good fun to play, but horrible, horrible neck dive.

They're very lovely! A cherry 335 is great and all but I think blonde is best!

I've been looking at black 335s, very nice things... Total tuxedo guitars... Let's see what turns up on Gumtree!!
Try Dave Leddin, he's in Brisbane but has absolutely tons of this kind of stuff lying around...
