I may well be wrong here, but the difference in our arguments seem to be the difference between me thinking in terms of the fluid mechanics between two people as opposed to how you might be considering how to best prevent infection for one particular individual.
If someone in front of me exhales through a soiled DIY mask that's not great but surely the fabric still blocks a significant percentage of their germs? Of course, it would be better if they wore a clean DIY mask, but surely the amount of germs in the air is still less than someone breathing entirely freely.
Thing is with masks, you need to take a fresh one out every time.
Having one, wearing it to the shop after you coughed in it is still a bit better than not having one and coughing over people accidentally. But I am curious if they did a compare of a dirty one VS none at all and coughing in tissue/elbow.
But I understood it should be one freshly washed mask every shop sessions, and you have to store it in a safe sealed place. Otherwise it just gets dirty at home and you drag things in.
Tempting to sow one at home with a logo on it though... lfgss rainbow? :)
