Is there a way to keep bookmarks in Chrome and Safari permanently synched?
I use Chrome on Macbook and Safari on iphone and it would be so useful if there was a way I could save a bookmark in Safari on my iphone and then also have it simultaneously saved in Chrome on my macbook.

Let me know if there's a way to make this happen! Cheers :-)

best way would be to use chrome on your phone.
Os safari on your laptop.

Hey I need to upgrade the ram on my QNAP Nas, anyone got some 8gb DDR3 204 pin ram.

Wanted to do a clean install of a macbook pro and set it up with a new account / no reference to old accounts.

Apple ID appears correct: effectively newcyoa@cyoa.cyoa

but there's an alias of some kind in the "contactable at" section which is oldaccount@icloud.com

I can't for the life of me figure how to delete this. It means the old purchases etc are available in the app store and I don't want them to be.

Thoughts?

I'm running 10.15.4

Currently tried via browser on the appleid and icloud sites. Also via system preferences > apple id

All I want is to be able to:
log into the app store with newcyoa@cyoa.cyoa
only see newcyoa@cyoa.cyoa in Mail

I don't use icloud for ICloud Drive / Photos / Reminders / Safari / Notes/ Siri/ Keychain / Find My Mac / News / Stocks/ Home.

I do use Mail (but don't have to and don't use icloud with it)
I do use contacts (but don't have to and don't knowingly use icloud with it)
I do use Calendars (but don't have to and don't knowingly use icloud with it).

newcyoa@cyoa.cyoa is currently run via gsuite so I use gmail / google calendar / google contacts etc.

Under "contactable at" it reads:
newcyoa@cyoa.cyoa (Apple ID)
+7824 123123 (verified) (I can delete this)
oldcyoa@icloud.com (I can't delete this or interact in any way)

Tempted to just buy a new domain and a new laptop and throw this fucking thing in the fire.

Separately while trying to install a load of software on the clean install, one item (VLC) bugged on download. Damaged/incomplete etc. I downloaded another copy which was fine and installed happily. I'm trying to delete the initial copy but I can't empty trash - says it's in use.
File isn't locked in any visible way.
Tried a few things including sudo rm -R but it just returned 'directory not empty' notes.

Have achieved almost nothing today apart from when I spent 3 hours on hold to AXA and use the time to reorganise a book shelf.

I got nothing. What model NAS and also why do you need 16Gb? My TS-869 pro is quite happy with 3Gb

Ts-451+, it comes with 2gb, can officially take 8gb (2x 4gb), but will work with 16gb (2x 8gb)
I keep getting an alert that all of my memory is being used so thought I’d upgrade, thinking it maybe responsible for the glacially slow response from plex when I try to play films.
And also if it’s giving me alerts now, what happens when I actually know how to use it properly and want to stream bits all over the shop.
So looking to future proof myself a bit if I can.

I've been wondering for a while if there's any software that allows you to annotate webpages and then save them in bookmarks? Or is that just wishful thinking? I'm pretty organised with my bookmarks but it would be amazing if I could highlight the important parts of articles rather than re-reading the whole thing...

Finally got my movies playing from NAS to tv via plex, much thanks to @freddo for the online support, walk through.

Now to get my music copied and playing through the Network Streamer...

I think all (older) iCloud accounts have an underlying, fixed iCloud username and any third party email address you add is just a contact address.

I think the way to get what you want is to change the email address on this account to something else, then create a brand new iCloud account with the address you want. I don't know whether it'll actually let you reuse an address straight away, of course.

Ugh. Think this may be the solution too. It's been a few days of factory resets / downloading and booting different OS'/updating them, so not sure I have the patience yet but I suppose now is the time to do it, (assuming, as you say, you can reuse it straight away).

Has anyone ever had a fishy smelling Macbook? I've got a 2019 15" MBP, twice this week there's been a really strong fishy / mackerel smell coming from it (or maybe from my monitor).

First time happened when I have a complex 3d model open, second time I'd not been on it for half an hour and was just browsing on Chrome.

Hi, would anyone be interested in 27" Apple A1407 thunderbolt display? I can't justify getting another computer to use it (I have 2 PC's, MacBook & Chromebook). Looking at eBay auctions they sell between £300-£600.
