Pandemic is a good one for two I find. It’s a 2-4 co-operative game so can be a bit trickier with just two but a good challenge and if wanted, due to it’s cooperative play style, it’s possible to play with 4 roles on the table and play them openly making each role’s turn together.
A slightly more welcoming option of a similar co-operative idea is Forbidden Island and it’s ‘sequel’ Forbidden Desert. Probably recommend Forbidden Desert more personally.
I'm halfway through Pandemic Legacy with a couple of the kids. Really excellent, though still freaked out everytime we have to rip up a card or throw something away.
