How have you been getting on with the bike, had much track time? Went down a rabbit hole of looking at GSXR750/1000 for track duties and haven't really gone off the idea, especially since my track day now is cancelled. Fair point about saving the money on tyres.

Nah - one track day in the last 5 years! Was hoping to do more this year but that's not happening now. I used to race years ago and toy with the idea of getting back into it periodically. Frankly I'm put off by the ferocious expenses and a decided lack of bottle on my part these days.. I only got this one as it was super cheap and I couldn't resist it as a track toy I could use a couple of times a year and not care about.
If I was back in the UK, I'd have a 600 as a track bike all day long over a thou. They are way less tiring to ride. The 750 is a happy medium. If you're sensible, I suppose you could just short shift a thou at 9-10K all day and get the same effect but the old eyeball roll straight line grunt is pretty addictive once you get out there.

Office is looking much nicer with the new toy.

At the risk of coming across as a Neevesy fan-boy, thought this was a useful and another candid insight. Love the fact you can tell he's seen it all and just interested in imparting some of his experience without selling anything, well other than the Ron Haslam Race School.

Love that your home office features a toy, a forum and a games console. ;)

Seemed pretty informative, but also like an introductory video for the riding school. Not in a bad way but in a, “come learn here but don’t do this stuff or we’ll be spending all day fixing it”.

Trying to keep a balance :)

Just in case any of you with more classic/classic looking bikes are thinking of a new seat?
Just thought I’d plug an old colleagues business.
I’m certainly no expert but looks like he’s doing a tidy job.https://instagram.com/holy_goat_motorcycle_seats?igshid=1lkv6ek4r3j2r

Didn't reaslise this thread existed. For a reason, which is now long forgotten, I decided to do my DAS last summer having had no prior riding experinece whatsoever.
Did the theory, CBT and DAS all in a matter of weeks, I got extremely lucky with booking the theory test date.
Several grand later, I'm the owner of this Triumph Street Triple - itching to get back out on it. The insurance, in inner London, even with a garage reminds me of the time I first past my driving test 13 years ago - in a word, crippling.
Anywhere it is, 675 Street Triple - 2012, its done nearly 50k!!

Very tidy indeed. Great work there.

Nice. I miss mine so much, but it got keyed within a few months so got rid off. Do yourself a favour and get some Leo Vince cans. It'll make it sing! That intake noise is infectious.

I do like a triumph triple. Those reming me of Johnny 5, which is good.
But I really want the original T509 speed triple in pink. Or atomic or nuclear red as they called it but we know it is pink.

I actually messaged him a couple of days ago and he's sending me some fabric samples :)

When adjusting rear shock preload does it matter if the spring spins with the lower collar (not the lockring) when turning? To me it seems like the shock isn't actually changing length 🤔
-
• #15117
I was told it doesn't matter no. Length change is barely noticeable until you sit on it and see how much preload you've applied.

Glanced through this from a google search.

Time to buy LED’s and other accessories from China, then agonise on where to fit them.

No chance. Although the other night some Pazzo levers on eBay were winking at me, must be in a bad way.
-
• #15122
Nice. I have the knock-off Pazzo levers, quite like them. Look pretty trick and very comfortable shape.
As for LED lights... Four more arrived today, so now I have the beginnings of a light bar.

Who has all been using their motorbike during lockdown then?
Mine has been languishing since winter kicked in, might have used it once or twice since October I think. Surprisingly it fired straight up when I tried it the day before yesterday.
Took it out today, with Mrs m_v on the back, to grab some shopping for her parents who are isolating and hooked up their new broadband router while we were there (they retreated to another room then we wiped everything we had touched).
Got so many disapproving stares from peds, drivers and bus passengers.

Most of the riders I know are doing runs for people stuck at home. Obviously they could carry more with a car, but that wouldn't be as fun.
My tax was due at the start of this month so have SORNed. Luckily I have a bizarre driveway/car park set up going on at mine so I can keep the oil moving without hitting the public highway.
Ah the worst they can do is give me a fix it ticket. Not the end of the world.
It is very difficult to get slicks up to temp on the street, practically impossible I'd say unless you're riding like a total eejit. It's only very hard acceleration / braking and high speeds that gets race tyres melty.
Honestly though, they don't need to be - any old tyres work OK cold on dry roads if you pump them up a bit. Can't be arsed to spend 350 on a new set just to go for a little spin.
Sweet Hondas Radiobomb, that old C50 was my first ever bike. I had two, a green one and a blue one. Lovely.
