Did you read that Forza 6 was better than 7? I bought Forza 6 when I saw it used in a game shop but i'm unsure about wether I should have just bought 7. 6 has been good so far but after playing Horizon 4, when I switch to playing 6 it feels a bit old in terms of modifying options and some of the cars available.

Talking about XCOM, I was rather reminded of the game when going to Sainsbury's today, what with all the regularly spaced tape lines on the floor.

Turned based supermarket simulator?

The 50/50 of rabbids is so much easier mentally than getting a 92% miss in XCOM. Which I’ve just restarted playing again so there’s some pain fresh in my mind.
Rabbids isn’t particularly hard, but there’s a surprising amount of love in it (and the DK dlc). It really comes into its own once you’ve got your guys levelled up and start chaining some monster carnage together, v satisfying.

Bought FF7 remake... I've never really played a Final Fantasy game. Should be interesting

Keep us updated on FFVII, @Kirth, if it has a fraction of the gameplay magic that the original PS1 version had, you'll be in for a good time funtime.
@ricky2slicky, that's a great question, I think one of the the Forza's looks worth a punt, but I'm not honestly sure which is for me; I don't want something too simulatory. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to play before committing.

Fancied something I could play on the TV so I just installed Portal and Portal 2 on the HTPC, should fly now I have a GTX 1030 GDDR5 card in it, hopefully the controls work well with a 360 controller.

Since there's X-box Versions of both games, I think, you should be fine.
Also, if you can, get a mate to play portal2's Co-Op mode with you. It's mad fun and the possibilities presented by two pairs of portals are insane.

Also, if you can, get a mate...
Noted, as yet no one responded to my Advertisement in the local shop window.

Any suggestions for arcade style driving games (preferably with a split screen 2 player) on Xbox One? Something you can have a bit of a blast with without spending ages on fine tuning settings (or repeatedly driving into walls).

It depends how cartoony you want to go. There's Crash and Sonic racing games or Forza 7 on the more realistic side.

If you like the idea of open world driving, Forza Horizon is more arcadey than the Forza Motorsport. You basically drive around an open world map and then completing races to win new cars, cash etc. (FH4 is based in a condensed version of the UK with Edinburgh, the North East Coast, Lake District and the Cotswolds represented). No split screen 2 player option but tonnes of online availability. I've been playing it a lot since I got it (90 % of my game playing is with racing games) and I find this is good to just drop in a play for a little bit, which I don't do as much with Forza Motorsport 6/Project Cars 2

if you have GamePass, have a look on there and see if you can play either. I'm enjoying FM6 and after reading up over the weekend, quite a few people say they prefer it to FM7. I can still see myself getting a copy of 7 in the coming months though.
Also, if you're into more sim stuff, I've been playing quite a bit of Project Cars 2 over the weekend. Without a wheel setup, it's pretty frustrating at times but spending a bit more time with it, I've started to gel with it a bit more and it's more satisfying when you get it right.

If the previous entries are anything to go by, I'd go for the Sonic Team Racing. No idea what console backwards compatibility is like these days, but Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed was fantastic (was on out XBox 360).

Cheers all, some to look into. Cartoony or not I don't mind, I just want something where you spend the time racing and you don't spend the first few hours of play wildly veering from one side of the road to the other before crashing into a wall.

Try burnout paradise, think you can play that two player, that’s pretty much jump in and race..

Bah. Xbox arrived today, with a damn defective noisy fan. As soon as I clocked the intact secondary tamper sticker stuck over the original cut tamper sticker (on cardboard box, not console) I sensed trouble. They’ve sent me a unit somebody else has already returned! What a faff, have to pack it all up now, arrange collection, and hope they’re not going to be nobs about doing a replacement / refund. Not cool JD Williams.

I’m sweating profusely just thinking about it.
I’m going to have to download it on the iPad and not sleep all night now... -

Are Xbox fans prone to being a bit dodgy? I got a good deal on a refurbed console but it came without a fan so had to order one separately, it turned up and didn't work at all. Luckily the seller was very cool about it, immediately offering a full refund and saying not to worry about returning it until things have calmed down a bit.

I was using an Xbox 360 until recently and the fan on that sounded like a jet engine.

legally they have to accept a return and refund for 14 days after you received it so you should be alright.

In fairness, they've been ok so far, "that's fine Sir just package it up and stick the returns label on it, somebody will collect within 48 hours". Benefit to buying from a catalogue company perhaps, but I'll believe it when the dorra is back in my account.
just picked up mario v rabbitids for under a tenner. never been a huge fan of mario PG bollocks but apparently it's XCOM-ish and hard af.
