  • It is a 700c frame...

  • Hey @billygoat8 it is indeed a 700c frame with tektro long drop brakes. I pray every day they dont stop making them or go out business as even the smallest frame, 700c wheels leave me 0cm standover.

  • Great @jono84 - the more the merrier! Let me know if I can help at all with Strava, we've all been there with some thing or other.

  • I hope my premium bonds come through x10 times

  • Joe, spotted you last week somewhere in the city, maybe Fleet Street? You were going west. I turned around to try catch up but you were going faster than it looked!
This week's hill is more your area, you should give it a go.
This is my effort, new PB again, even though I was in 50x13. Was geared, but I promise I didn't coast anywhere on the segment. I also managed Swains beforehand in that gear, to see what was possible with enough zigzagging.

  • Looks like I already put in a 0:58 back in 2017.
    sits down
    Well that was easy.

  • hot dayum, my knees hurt thinking about that. Nice work @Ruserius!

  • Heya, I'm joining the hill climbing gang a bit late, so I thought I would compensate by doing Weeks 1 and 2 together today… πŸ’€I didn't expect Greenwich tunnel to be closed, and the first hill destroyed my right knee. I arrived back home very tired with 1% battery left, yay!

  • Welcome Welcome @cynddl :)

Lovely people, you have one more day for this week's challenge. Currently looking like @Ruserius is in the lead with a strong 50x13!

  • Just catching up on this thread. Been up Point Hill today. Was spotted by @Stonehedge and @avellana on the way home and someobe else not on here on the way ouy. Nice outing, very sunny and friendly faces on the A2.

  • We live just by the top of point hill. Come for some laps when lockdown is over.

  • @Lucybee - Ohhhhh..... So its biggest gear wins? I thought it was fastest time wins and then if it's drawn, biggest gear wins. πŸ™„
There's me trying to find the right ratio to smash it as hard and fast as I can πŸ™‚ Haha

  • Haha yes, biggest gear gets to choose the next hill, which I guess is 'winning' in this case.
Of course if you get the fastest time then you win anyway on Strava as the KOM/QOM! Just not by choosing the next hill.
    This whole thing is to:
1 - Promote good vibes during lockdown
2 - Celebrate the fixed and SS life :)
So whatever the purpose; strength training with a big dog gear, efficient and nippy for the KOM/QOM, discovering new parts of London or just an excuse or reason to get back on your fixed speed, hopefully everyone wins here and feels a little more connected in lockdown :)

  • Yeah it's a great idea and has been really good fun! Thanks for organising it!πŸ™‚

For me, It been something fun to challenge yourself on each week since all races and events are cancelled at the moment.

Even though I didn't read the challenge properly (Fool!!)..... I've have quite enjoyed trying to beat @Biggles567 's time each week. haha

    I had a crack at it this morning.... 38 Seconds @ 48x16.

    I was on 5017.

i keep on forgetting to take a photo!

Nice work @Grifffff, bike looks great!

  • Haha niceeee, 1 second still counts!
Cool bike, I wanted a CAAD for a while. Do you climb in the drops?

  • Well for this one I was in the drops as it wasn't too steep but for point hill I was on the tops. That middle section was an absolute grind!

I really like my CAAD10 frame actually... nice geometry to ride, very stiff but also really one of the lightest alloy frames you can get.
My only frustration is the short drop outs... Makes the range of gearing really short with only 1 chain.
So unfortunately for this reason, I'm thinking of replacing it.
I'm currently in discussion with 8bar about a TMPLHOF Team Edition frame, but if not I'm after a Cinelli Parallax Charcoal in 58.
So if you know anyone... 😜 Haha

Looking forward to next week's challenge!

  • Nice, thought you might be a modern day Pantani!

Short drop outs are a pain. I have a dream where I have a garage one day with a wall where I can nail hooks on for lots of chains and underneath write down which gears each work with haha
Nice, I'll keep an eye out - 58 is much easier to come by than my measley 49 preferably but usually make do with 51.

  • @Ruserius want to pick next week's hill? Godspeed

  • As much as I love novelty, the familiar in these uncertain times can be comforting, so I'm choosing Woodland Road, a hill that some may know from Tuesday night hills. I usually blow up the hardest on this one. It gets steeper right till the end making it hard to keep momentum from the bottom. And the steepness will prevent me from 'cheating' like in the last hill with gearing. I think it near impossible to go near 100" on this one! Enjoy!

  • Thank you kind sir!

  • Oh and thanks for not mentioning the, cough, bikes we were riding.

  • Ha sounds like me, I've been riding into the city quite a bit to take advantage of the empty roads

Forgot to post it but here it is https://www.strava.com/activities/3311407256 defo think I would of had a better time if hadn't double checked where I was going midway, still in 48/17
