Private Eye is reporting that Telegraph cartoonist Matt receives an eye-watering £650,000 per year plus perks – actually £200,000 more than the Telegraph editor.

Why so much?

The fear is that Matt could be poached by The Daily Mail or The Times and take a considerable amount of readers with him.

Gross revenue from 892 seven-day print subscriptions, so maybe not as eye-watering as all that.
