  • That's what ticked me off.. jets cost 10's of millions even 100's of millions.
Bikes are sold for the hundred and it not life or death if a BB creaks or headset not smooth.
The profit margins are far far less.
The engineers will always lose out consultants that come into find cheaper and hence inferior construction methods, very harsh to blame the initial engineer.

  • Don't fuck with LFGSS.

But seriously, by him or Twitter?

  • Those who can't, make youtube videos.

  • A carbon frame made for $300 and sold for $1000-3000 and more shouldn't be so poorly made and if it is it should be accepted as defective and replaced, not covered up and avoided.

Isn't that exactly what happens with a warranty though?

  • Youtube - for harassment/bullying.

  • Bikes are sold for the hundred and it not life or death if a BB creaks or headset not smooth.

It is still hugely dangerous though. We've seen for ourselves big brands put out cycle products that have maimed and killed clients.

  • Have you seen some cars?

    Classic whataboutism 👆

  • Classic whataboutism

Have you seen @hippy ‘s behaviour though?

  • He posted on his Youtube community page 'Due to a load of death threats and racist abuse from Michelle Arthur's friends. I have come off Twitter.'

  • Lololol, would rep.

He does make some qualifying statements about how if he wanted to be a shit aerospace engineer he'd work for a shit plane company. And how if you want to criticise his work, try and criticise the Eurofighter or whatever - which is particularly amusing/absurd. It's not exactly the Hambini Eurofighter, is it?

    Oh dear

    Classic whataboutism 👆

He says, indulging in whataboutism himself.... 😂🤭

  • Not trying to be a dick, but I don't get what point are you trying to make?

  • Is there a cream for whataboutism? I think I may have to apply it liberally.

  • That bike engineering is actually a serious concern because bad bike engineering kills and maims people, citing the Cannondale snapping forks as an example.

  • Engineers are fucking weird. Bikes are toys not aeroplanes.

  • It's not exactly the Hambini Eurofighter, is it?

He probably designed a bearing seat.

  • bad bike component construction kills and maims people

In the case of the 'dale fork.

If you want to look at actual engineering in bicycle design, check out the Lefty, of which they've had zero* (reported) lower leg snaps.

    * apparently. May not be true.

  • Try reading the prior paragraph which you've unfortunately left out of your quote (increasing the acceptable tolerances to avoid liability).

  • But they recalled the bikes and replaced them when the problem was identified. Which is a mechanism put in place as a means of protection. And one of the exact reasons you buy a name brand that comes with brand protection and warranty, which adds to the final cost of the part you're purchasing.

  • Bikes are toys

Yikes. Bikes are not toys they are vehicles like anything else. A badly designed and manufactured vehicle will kill and maim people and cycles are no different

As far as I am aware, Cannondale warranty doesn't bring a dead person back to life.

  • How many poorly made forks has Hambini blown the whistle on?

  • Who gives a shit I'm not in Hambini's corner here, fuck that guy.

  • As far as I am aware, Cannondale warranty doesn't bring a dead person back to life.

It sounds like you won't be happy until a completely foolproof item is manufactured tbh - but literally no means of production is infallible. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

  • Yes, whatabout the forks @PhilDAS :)
