I was in the market for a good, mid-range cog at an affordable price
Dura Ace it is then.

Honestly thought 'velodrome shop' was well and truly dead, and known for just being a bunch of scummies, but here we go, more jokes.
So the cog in the image is a EAI cog thats been photo shopped, the cog in the photo is yeah, about £8 worth. Quite a few do this 'rrp x, sale price y', been around for decades.
Have you tried it on a hub, runs true and round? You'd be surprised how many cogs aren't! -
• #229
Does seem that way, they also sell the other cog.
Real pics(?).

Do you specifically need a 17t? I might have one in the parts box but not sure if its 17/18t
-
• #231
already got a dura ace in 16t but need a 17t cog for a 48/17 ratio.
-
• #232
yeah, the wannabe elite cog looks suspiciously similar to the cheapo novatec that came stock with my langster years ago. therefore i'm not even willing to get out the chain whip and skrew it on...
-
• #233
17t would be awesome :-)

here the development of things for your reading if interested: 1st e-mail
"Dear Velodrome Shop Team,
today I received my order, a "Velodrome Shop Elite 1/8 17 teeth sprocket". I have to admit that I find it to be a little underwhelming qualitywise for an orginal retail price of 30 pounds.
Taking the picture from your website as a reference (https://www.velodrome.shop/track-sprockets/velodrome-shop-elite-1/8-track-sprockets/), the machining of the teeth seems pretty different.
Also, there is no ring-shaped notch in the front face of the cog, compared to the picture. In addition, the label on the packaging foil states a different product ID as stated in the order details (ESP1017N FIXED SPROCKET vs VS-SP117).
Is it possible that I received a wrong product, i.e. a regular cog of lesser quality and not the "elite" version? I added photos in the attachment to clarify my reasoning.
Would you please double-check if I received the correct item and get back to me as soon as possible?
Thank you in advance.Florian"

their answer:
"Dear Florian,
I am very sorry that you are not happy with the product that you have received however the photos confirm that you have received the correct item.
Please note the product image depicts a 14T sprocket, larger sized sprocket such as the 17T that you ordered do not have the ‘notched’ section however this does not mean they are different products.

Michelle

my still way to friendly reply:
"Dear Michelle,
thank you for your answer. However, I'am really upset about the issue right now. Apart from the notched section, the tooth profile is entirely different, which should not be the case, if the cogs are essentially the same product apart from tooth count...
In fact, I figured on closer inspection that you used a photoshopped image of an eai superstar premium cog (https://www.velodrome.shop/track-sprockets/eai-superstar-premium-cog/), that you are also selling in your shop, to advertise your own branded budget cog. Combined with your "RRP - Compared at"-method, you promise customers getting a product of a quality similar/equal to the EAI superstar cog, but without paying for the expensive "branding".
By using those misleading strategies, you are deliberately luring customers into buying a quality-wise disappointing product, while they are in anticipation of something far superior.
Please let me know how Velodrome Shop wants to handle the issue.
Regards,Florian"

Once again, fuck those lying cunts!

now it's getting of the charts with those fuckers, even denying their poor effort of fraud...
Dear Florian,
The image is not photoshopped, this is your opinion not a fact.
If you are unhappy with the product you are welcome to return it for a full refund.

Michelle

Hahahaha, yeah sure, this isn't photoshopped at all...
It looks like they did it in MS paint, you can even see over-spray where they use a brush tool.

Probably going a bit OTT but you can use this tool https://29a.ch/photo-forensics/#forensic-magnifier to prove it's photoshopped ("fact").
I had a look myself, the clone stamp tool will show you where there are identical clusters of pixels:
I mean you can see it's 'shopped with your eyes, but I guess that's not "fact" enough. -

yup, so pathically executed.

my last email:
"My opinion & not a fact? Sorry, but now it is really getting of the charts.
Attached are the pictures of the EAI sprocket from the Euro-Asia Imports website, from your online shop and a picture of your own branded "Elite" sprocket.

This surely is a poorly executed effort of fraud.no further answers from them...

apart from continuously offering a refund, with cost of the return being my responsibility, nothing will happen from their side.
