• Thought I had. See it now?

  • Nice one, man.

Based in Herne Hill. Can help with some mechanic-ing.

  • Bikes for Refugees are starting a similar scheme that will hopefully get more publicity and get more bikes to the right people. This is the scotland scheme but hopefully there'll be one down here too. I'll keep an eye and update here so all offers of bikes can be shared.

  • Thanks Velocio you make some really good points and your generosity is a good example to others. I'll be offering more bike(s) and locks in the coming days, but they need servicing first.

  • This is a great idea.

Im in SE15 - have a mini workshop in the basement so happy to help with servicing for anyone who needs it - obvs current front-line staff, but also hit me up if you just need a hand with your bike.

Also, have a Brompton I would be happy to lend (can't afford to give it away at the mo) to any NHS worker who needs it for their commute.

  • @Velocio should we put a list on the first post?

    i.e
    SE15 @knowthejo
    SE24 @Hjusth
    E9 @Batt

    etc.

  • Two lists? One for bikes, with a location, and one for free servicing, with a location.

  • Have single speed Brompton and old Kona mtb 16inch and locks that I would happily donate to NHS worker.

    Based in SM5.

  • Furloughed at home here, have a full home workshop and access to spares etc so can offer free repairs and servicing for essential workers and can fix up any rattlers that people can donate. Based in CR7, near Crystal Palace FC.

  • Brompton available in RG10

  • I've had a donation for parts so I'm going to be going round to fix key workers' bikes for free (including spares) in this zone during my 'exercise hour'. If anyone knows of any key workers eg. at the schools, at Whipps Cross or at Homerton that need fixage, send Andy a message on 07967 222892

I wear an ffp3 mask, surgical gloves and use alcohol wipes. You can leave it locked up (as long as not locked by the wheels if you need a puncture repair) and/or we can arrange a line-of-sight for it to be locked and unlocked by you at a safe mutual distance.

  • If anyone thinks the first post or the lists should be laid out more clearly suggestions welcome @Velocio

  • Isn’t it better to not [@] them so they don’t get a notification every time the list is copy/pasted

  • More important to link easily to the member offering a bike.

  • 1) For regular bikes - seek a plant room (boiler-house?) that can be secured for access when regular bike parking is typical afterthought & not in sight of main entrance, or consider asking for container drop or similar storage at main door.

    Bike Hire Fleets

    2) Note that Beryl has stood down their London fleet - and made available free to NHS staff and set up deals with other locations (Watford, Bournemouth, Norwich &c)
    3) Serco/Santander/TfL has an 'offer' for using Boris Bikes to NHS staff
    4) Brompton Hire is sending out bikes of special NHS deal via their hire points - you register on the app with NHS e-mail for free use deal & this available where Brompton Hire operates & they have support resources in place (eg Portsmouth, Manchester, Oxford....) One key tip IKEA DIMPA bags are the right size to cover a Brompton and bring it inside to store.
    5) Nextbike has agreed free hires with some of the locations (depends on sponsor & support team capacity) - Glasgow, Stirling & ? - Bikes are at Brunel (Uxbridge) & Surrey (Guildford - next to Royal Surrey Hosp)
    6) No action yet from Hourbike (various), Jump (Uber), Smoove (Slough) & others do press them locally & DM me any news via (at) BCCletts on twitter - cycling around London (& seriously quaxing) since 1964

  • PS Kinetics has sorted a good protocol for socially distanced repairs/sales - SMS time of arrival/appointment & leave bike at door - Ben comes out takes bike inside - new SMS agree collection time - notify arrival - bike/spares placed outside - collect.

  • "Track pump to your door service" might be handy - SMS offer (clearing house via one phone?) to call at an address - fettle up a bike & hand back to user, making it easier & safer to cycle for those new to this.

  • Handlebars are also doing free NHS services, dealt with them in the past, great place

  • Hi,

Am an NHS doctor working at the Royal Brompton Hospital, we don’t have definite storage but was looking for a brompton (!) bike as can store in our doctors’ rest room/office. Would be forever grateful! Many thanks and stay safe!

  • Message one of these guys, hopefully one of them is still available.
