Maybe @Howard's rocks prevent infection. Do you have any conclusive evidence they don't? If not, why haven't you got one? After all, if we're ignoring scientific evidence and relying upon opinions, why does @Howard's belief in his magical rocks count any less than your belief in the power of masks?

Well, there's a big 'maybe' on this. Nobody really knows. Grasping my £10 rock (fnar) or donning Dan's tinfoil hat might be equally (in)effective.
The bigger problem is that people will not do this, they will buy up N95s that others should be using.
