3x1? I mean it sure is different, but how is this better than a hub gear (sliding dropouts too for easy chain tensioning) or a standard 1x setup?

I guess less thought about changing gear and more simplicity, but still a bit of range compared to ss. In terms of cost, with the Paul tensioner it's probably way more expensive than a 1x.
I would quite like to do it one day if I had a triple lying around. I liked my ss mtb but the problem was, riding on tarmac to the trails was incredibly spinny.

In terms of cost
Just checked the Flickr page, Blue Lug, now it all makes sense haha.

yep the money gun...

I thought about doing this too, as at first glance it looks like a cheap way to get a wide gear range. But most decent chain tensioners seem to be more expensive than a good rear mech.

I used to use the Paul doodad to run a dingle speed for cross. Worked pretty well.

The Alfine is a cheaper option, adjustment left and right is a bit more of a faff though.

My recently acquired Muddy Fox Courier Comp! Over 30 years ago my uncle bought this brand new... Now I am lucky enough to call it mine. It is probably one of the most enjoyable bikes I have ridden to date.
As you can see it does not have the original seat nor the original stem fitted... I imagine this was to make it more comfortable for my uncle. Luckily I do have the original parts! The bike works wonderfully but of course to bring it back to it's former glory it needs a little tlc...
Would love to know everyone's thoughts and suggestions on what to do with it! Hopefully to get it on the level of @Tijs and @birofunk MF's

Do, or do not. There is no try.
Nice one on the Courier Comp. I've always wondered what the difference was compared to the Pathfinder though.

Yes I was trying to figure that out by zooming in on your bike. I couldn't tell you though...
The spokes are quite abit too far gone in terms of rust so the wheel could do with a rebuilt... maybe even a new wheelset completely?
Rear cog is also very corroded so intend to swap that out.
It needs a new seat, perhaps a Brooks B17.
I'd like to change out the stem for something with a little bit more reach... the height is fine I like the relaxed riding style but more reach would be perfect.
Recommendations for wheelsets, rear cog, seat and a stem would be greatly appreciated!
