I read an article where Sweden's Anders Tegnell, when asked why Sweden had a disproportionately higher death rate than its neighbours, answered that some countries were just ahead of others in the course of the epidemic.
I'm pretty sure the only reason we havn't been officially advised to wear masks is because there is a limited global supply..

just trying to catch up with Sweden, who are leading the way as usual.
definitely the Swedish mentality of being seen to be doing the right thing more right than everyone else as far as I remember it... I fear that they may have misjudged in this instance unless they genuinely do know something everyone else in the world doesn't.

Furious clapping last two Thursdays from my shitty ends.
Not a peep tonight.

Are there any national security DSMA notices floating around, asking for a friend.
Sky News spent really, really, really a lot of time today discussing and getting experts on to further discuss recovery times and the side effects and how do you wean someone off a respirator on ICU.

How many times are they going to say "stable" on the BBC news tonight talking about Boris?! It's like they've been give a script from the strong and stable campaign by accident.

We’re fucked. We need better people in charge.
According to that Reuter’s report (posted up thread) as late as Feb 19th UK government & advisors still thought containment was viable.
To clarify - they thought it was realistic they’d catch and isolate every case.
That’s criminal incompetence.
Also ... this couple of days later:
Amid the dreadful news from Italy, the scientists at NERVTAG convened by phone that Friday, 21st February. But they decided to recommend keeping the threat level at “moderate,” where it had sat since January 30th. The minutes don’t give a detailed explanation of the decision. Edmunds, who had technical difficulties and couldn’t be heard on the call, emailed afterwards to ask the warning to be elevated to “high,” the minutes revealed. But the warning level remained lower. It’s unclear why.
“I just thought, are we still, we still thinking that it’s mild or something? It definitely isn’t, you know,” said Edmunds.

There's obviously a lot of variables to put into this model, but I struggle with their outputs, when you consider us vs the US...
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/07/uk-will-be-europes-worst-hit-by-coronavirus-study-predictsReally, really hope this is wrong otherwise the next two weeks in the UK will make Italy look like a piece of cake :(

RE: Daily deaths. As the number of patients tested for Covid19 increases, the daily death is fairly obviously going to increase as well. Below is taken from the guidance for filling out death certificates. Until they release the full datasets, where you can see the other conditions being treated, the true death rate is harder to establish. Also below is weekly deaths in the UK last year. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/datasets/weeklyprovisionalfiguresondeathsregisteredinenglandandwales
Edit: Point I'm failing at making is, that they could be more specific and quantify deaths due to viral pneumonia, ARDS, etc. Rather than just positive cases who have died.

V interesting.
That’s pretty fucked up isn’t it. Has she contacted any papers? I think the public needs to know so we can put pressure on the system.
I totally get they’re not testing anyone raising their hand, but staff like her should def get a test.
