We have such a high number because of the large scale testing apparantlyMy Mrs is a nurse they aren't doing any more testing than they have to and even those doing the.testing don't have PPE that's a fact...I told her to come home and fuck the managers sat at home on their laptops

It's what we tell ourselves here too as we're currently 5th in the world for number of cases per 1M people and 9th for deaths. It's probably true but it doesn't help you feel less like you're living on a (not that) giant plague ship.

cue Trump dispatching a Navy warship to intercept poor Renaud's consignment from somewhere in the China sea...

Sounds crazy I know, but shouldn't the blame be laid at the feet of the sellers who are enabling this gazumping.

Shocking stories on line from the poorest neighbourhoods across the UK, utter neglect after a decade of austerity.
This morning GF spoke with her friend working in Central London Coroners Court. Totally frazzled and overwhelming are understatements in the extreme..
Even best case scenario, UK death toll at a bewildering total, also subject to NHS coping, which clearly they can’t.
Too little too late by BoJo government, is frankly no comfort for anyone.
Stay safe, stay kind everyone

Yes, agreed, the corruption starts at the sellers, but the corruption there exists already at all levels (for multiple historical and cultural reasons), and acts like this knowingly exploit that fact, and will just encourage it further.

And somehow, in current circumstances, not even completely unimaginable. The story will be leaked that it was robbed by Somalian pirates, obviously. (Somalian pirates that just happened to be in the China Sea.)

DuPont makes a load of their fabric for PPE here in Luxembourg. They’ve stepped up their production but the government has mandated that a certain portion of the completed items have to stay in country. They’ve been happy to comply but I think the inherent comment is that they won’t have local people going to work, risking infection to produce items that don’t have any ability to be used here or the rest of Europe as they end up on cargo planes to the US.

Daily press briefing: Has Matt Hancock 'pulled a hamstring in the tunnel'?
-
• #8940
Didn't he have a positive test less than a week ago?
-
• #8941
Wonder what lies he’s got prepped for this briefing.

Hancock’s still on the phone to Ocado.
Not sure if he’s sorting out the UK’s testing regime or booking a slot for Tuesday.

He'll do anything to emulate the Pantomime PM.

When invoking 'scientific' advice doesn't Hancock mean epidemiological?,
or,
is that just too many syllables? -
• #8946
He’s struggling.

US is response is so chaotic
"Last week, a Trump administration official working to secure much-needed protective gear for doctors and nurses in the United States had a startling encounter with counterparts in Thailand.
The official asked the Thais for help—only to be informed by the puzzled voices on the other side of the line that a U.S. shipment of the same supplies, the second of two so far, was already on its way to Bangkok."
