  • Can anyone recommend a good source for used or re-issued vintage decks?

My 40th is creeping up and I've always wanted a Mike Mcgill for wall art. Also interested in any quality eighties era prints/posters.

  • That Jack O'Grady part is insane.

  • There’s a couple of McGill reissues on eBay at the mo but they’re overseas and silly money unfortunately...

  • Just dug this out of a box. Remember picking it up in a charity shop around ‘96ish when I started skating. Rad.

  • Great book, seeing those pics of South Bank brings back loads of memories... I never skated there, was way too young but me and my mates played street hockey on the long central concourse bit... Our mate from school, Stephen Fitzgerald, was the very last skater at South Bank in those days ('81-'82-ish)... It was all BMX and knobs on roller skates in leather jackets like us jumping off things... I remember thinking how sad Steve seemed, didn't take long for it all to come back tho'...

I can still remember the first time I jumped the stairs that go down into that bit in the picture, terrifying but exhilarating... #csb

  • My first trip to southbank was prob 97-98 probably. Scary as fuck as a 13yr old grom amongst locals hooning around at full pelt.
I mostly just cruise to the shops these days but have waxed a curb out the front of my building and am using lockdown to try and relearn a few things. I’ve still got bs180s but can barely ollie. Doubt I’ll heelflip a 5set ever again but man can dream.
Just being able to hop up and down curbs again like a boss and get my boardslides back(I used to be able to slide pretty much every parking curb, ledge, shitty low wall etc in my home town) would be nice.
Braille skate vids on YouTube have some amazing instructional vids.

  • Yeah there's a few nice used ones but all $450+and I'm not even sure if some of those are used re-issues.

Had a look at Slam City and every re-issue sold out so I'm guessing these are in high demand.

  • Sign up for the Bones Brigade mailing list on the Powell site. They'll probably have another round of reissues at some point, and if you're quick you should be able to get one.

  • I remember heading there in probably 97/98 to ollie 'The south bank seven'. Hour or so trip in, went straight there, steps were the first thing i tried, landed it and snapped my board. Had a full day of sitting about smoking, watching my mates skate and occasionally getting a go on one of their boards.

Think I had that book, or one very similar too.

  • Me?

Okay not me. I have no Powell, but I’ve got an original SIMS Flag 2 (fluo ink) and a really horrible/disgusting Snakeman. Truly, graphics only a mother would love.
Oh and a battered New Wave and probably the only SIMS Everslick (that’s right, made by Santa Cruz) not being used to fix a hole in a fence.
I also have some 70s oak and ply.
And Trucks. Wheels. Plastics. Stickers (misc between 1976-1992).
    Roll up!

  • @606 good shout cheers. @vilms5000 really after a Powell as it was so unobtainable when I was young. That said some of your decks sound interesting so feel free to send me a pic or two when you have a minute. This is just for a wall hanger.

Really want to get a setup to ride atm but not too keen to join the line of twats that hurt themselves trying to do something they were never very good at given the circumstances.

  • hah, understood : )
I will DM a pic or two.

  • After five years of not skating, I’ve been dreaming of rolling around bowls again. A change in the weather (plus lockdown) has thrown a switch in my head. Mid-fifties comeback* is gonna be DOMS³

    *once we’re through this

  • I managed a few ollies while rolling slowly today. As depressing as that is it marks a milestone in me getting back into this. I can still do fs180 and half cabs tho a lot easier which is weird.
Was attempting ollieing into 50-50 stalls on a curb with less success.
I also don’t remember getting achy or tired after 45mins when I was 14!

  • never seen London before thanks bro !
    RIP Jeff Grosso

  • Chad Muska's son ?

  • Blunt slide at the end was something else, eh?

  • Where have folk been skating , where they normally can’t ?
