Best way to test is to plug into the computer with the charger and see if you have any errors.

If nothing, it might be the battery is dead in which case you'll need the PCE-1 to confirm.

Sadly can't do the computer stuff, I'm on Mac and my Parallels software doesn't work any more as the last update killed some USB driver stuff

I used to be in that situation too. It’s frustrating there isn’t Mac software. Luckily I got given a windows work laptop.

Sounds like a job for a LBS. Should be about £20 for diagnostics.
