Canti’s, bar end shifter, 9-speed, steel, Brooks saddle, 700c. Some of these are becoming on trend again.... right?

All except the cantilevers....

Solid inspiration for where my surly might end up. Except I tried a brooks on that. It did not work.

The bike for me...
My cantilever ambivalence arose when I set up a bike (Brother Kepler) with them last year and then vowed to never do so again.
On my Kaffenback I use Deore V brakes with Tektro levers. Much easier to set up, great braking , and as good or better than cable disks. Gear shifts are made through friction bar ends...

Which Tektro levers do you use?

Can't remember the model number but SJS cycles will have them. Pull the right amount of cable and they are cheaper than the Crane Creek version and , so I am told , better. Can be uncomfortable if they are set up with the levers pointing too far up.

Tektro RL520 are compatible with MTB cable pull so probably these.

I tried to fit mini-v’s to this bike, but couldn’t due to the canti post spacing being narrow, unfortunately.

I love this bike

Mini Vs, as I found, were not the answer..

Tektro make the RL250 in road brake and V brake pull, so be careful to order the right one. @Peter_Carter @cheekysnakerI have a pair of Cane Creek V-pull drop bar levers spare. DM if you’re interested.

Throw in BB5s and you got a solid entry gravel bike.

• #10741
That’s the only bar tape combo I love.

Oh those v brake specific one? I find it work a lots better with mini v making it feel nearly as sharp as cantilever.

“ they are cheaper than the Crane Creek version and , so I am told , better.“
Cane Creek ones are made by Tektro. They are the same lever as the RL520 just with tiny embossed geckos on the hoods.

“ Tektro make the RL250 in road brake and V brake pull,”
The 520s are long pull, the 320s and 340s are short pull. -

Got an reply from the shop, as I already thought specialized can´t send me a new sequoia frame because its discontinued but they offered me a Diverge frame as replacement. But iam really concerned about mounting a pizza rack with sometimes heavy loads to a carbon fork. or is it no problem nowadays?
-
• #10746
Do you prefer canti's over mini v's? Why?
-
• #10747
Damn. I totally misread that on the Planet X site. I need to change my levers!
What are the best options for single speed road levers? Tektro 340s? Those TRP ones?
Anything else?

I would be too.

Cane Creek SCR-5 in my opinion. They resemble the old Campagnolo levers; very comfortable. Really bummed they don't come in linear pull variant.

So, Campag Record brake levers are best then ;)
Mmm (Caletti Cycles)
