Ahah, that's good to know. I'll try it out.
EDIT gave it a go: https://www.trainerroad.com/app/cycling/workouts/653805-baseline-test
Will try it tomorrow and report back.

Is the trainerroad ramp rest likely to overestimate FTP? I have used the two by 8 minute test in the past, which seemed to produce a reasonable estimate for FTP .
I'm completely untrained and did ramp test on Friday, followed by sweet spot 3 x 20 minutes (carillon +2) on Saturday. It was all sub FTP, but I was in the red (95% of max heart rate) by halfway through the second set. Had to drop to 95% of FTP for the third set.

Euuugghhh! WTF is that!? 40mins at FTP on a turbo?
-
• #1180
Could do, different strokes for different folks in terms of testing protocols. Bashing out 3x20 off the sofa won't be easy anyway though.

Either of those tests are likely to, meaning Sweetspot ends up being threshold work.
But.....I'd wager that going into 3 x 20mins untrained is probably more of the issue?!
tbf I think doing the Ramp in TR for then doing TR workouts makes sense. How useful the number it gives you for outside riding I don't know, but have never used it.
@dbr i'll let you know tomorrow!

Ha - I have been running a bit so only 50% couch potato. Definitely suffered like hell though.

Yeah, test to set workout intensity, outdoor FTP / real world stuff is usually different from what I understand.
Having said that, my FTP in TR matched pretty closely to my power for the three one hour ish TTs I did in Feb and March.

That's super helpful they are that close.
My indoor has always been a bit flattering, although this year will be using the same power meter indoor and outdoor which will help.

3x20 is potentially a bold move from a relatively untrained state. Maybe sart with some 1 hour SS worksouts that are more broken up and incrementally increase from there. Are you following a plan?

295w from a ramp test on the Kickr, 290w for 58mins from Rotor cranks during the North Roads Hardriders.
I have tweaked the Rotors by 4% to line up with the Kickr and cjr's Garmin Vector pedals after a bunch of testing though.

Started 'Sweet Spot Base - high volume 2'. Probably too ambitious.
-
• #1188
Maybe try mid and see how it goes? Although admittedly a great time to do High volume given what's going on..

That is what I thought!

HV looks brutal

That's a big jump and a classic error for most people coming from outdoor riding, I did the same when I started. Dial it back to MV or LV + z2 or SS rides.

Showing off their group workout thing live

Did a 'Tour of Watopia' stage one ride last night. Ended up in a good group from the beginning.
Looking at the numbers it ended up being 75 mins at an average of 90% FTP. Was challenging but not horrendous.
Been putting some decent volume while in lockdown (7 hours last week) so wondering if it's worth retesting my ftp at some point? I'm not training for anything but quite enjoy the motivation of getting stronger.
Also not doing ftp based workouts currently. -

Just realised this is the trainer road thread. Lelz.

Anyone have any trouble with the desktop TR app? Mine won't show any bluetooth devices (I've checked everything imaginable) even though Zwift connects no bother (disconnected it before tying TR again).
-
• #1196
On the contrary. Now I have a new laptop my KICKR appears as both BT and ANT+. I presume I can just disable the ANT+ one or does TR ignore it for me?
Reinstalled TR and/or drivers?
-
• #1197
It wishes it had you on ignore, not the device
-
• #1198
Did Monitor last night (6 x 6 minute sweet spot, 1 hour session). A lot more manageable.
-
• #1199
just join zwift ffs

Everyone wishes that.
You can clone existing workouts to edit them. It’s really straightforward.
