I suppose the worst case scenario is that this does become like the flu, endemic and kills a fuck ton of people every year.

Or like Tuberculosis, malaria, HIV or any other of the shitty illnesses that kill millions each year.

I thought this was inevitable and ultimately society will develop herd immunity and the symptoms will weaken over time as has happened with standard flu?

(To be clear I'm not saying we should be aiming for herd immunity)
