  • My point was that he's advocating the use of a treatment that hasn't been proven safe by the relevant organisations in the US.

Personally I think that's him stepping out of line, which is wrong (and not surprising). I have absolutely no knowledge of the effectiveness of the treatment he's suggesting, just that:

Even after the FDA chief clarified that the drug still needs to be tested for that use, Trump overstated the drug’s potential upside in containing the virus.

  • It’s approved for several indications and it’s effects are well known and well understood. As per my previous post, as I understand it, it can be used as a ‘treatment’ for C19 now in America if the circumstances permit it on a case by case basis. As can many drugs that have approval for condition X they can in some circumstances by used for condition Y for which they are not approved at the discretion of medical practitioners.

@Lebowski I’m suggesting that Trump lying - as you seemed certain he was - about this is a stretch - it’s probably him misunderstanding the complexities of the approval process. As per my previous post, he is probably mistaken.

I don’t know the efficacy on C19, it’s being assessed.

Would it be better if he kept his mouth shut? As always.

Agreed, which is what I was trying to get across with

which Trump is touting as a cure for Covid-19, we can all agree that this wrong

I can see the room for interpretation in that though, so apologies for the lack of clarity there.
