My point was that he's advocating the use of a treatment that hasn't been proven safe by the relevant organisations in the US.
Personally I think that's him stepping out of line, which is wrong (and not surprising). I have absolutely no knowledge of the effectiveness of the treatment he's suggesting, just that:
Even after the FDA chief clarified that the drug still needs to be tested for that use, Trump overstated the drug’s potential upside in containing the virus.

Sorry I did that shitty thing - using ellipses to suggest something that should be well known.
As I understand it, the Chinese have been using the medicalised form to help treat c19 cases.
