So, running through the virus. There seem to be quite a few virtual 5ks popping up tomorrow morning. And, inevitably, there are group runs being organised for Sunday...
Has anyone set themselves a running challenge outside of what they normally do? I.e. any fell runners challenging themselves to run a fast 800 or road mile and vice versa?

My club has cancelled all sessions in line with England Athletics advice and my coaching course is cancelled too.
Hoping Deadwater still goes ahead so sticking to my running routine for now.

Yes, group runs are a no. My local parkrun tweeted something along the lines of "Remember it's cancelled and don't turn up at the usual time to do an unofficial one. No group running!"

We had a club handicap race planned for this Saturday. We have a Strava segment set for it, and everyone can run it at their leisure.
I ran it with my girlfriend today and as it was pretty quick, carried it on so she got her fastest 10k to boot.
Quite a few parents and kids out on Hackney Marshes today. Not much traffic. I liked it

Got a 10km in this morning, out in the sticks near the uffington white horse. Saw a couple groups of runners - my first reaction was maybe that's not such a good idea... but as long as you're not gobbing/snotting every 10ft and keeping general distance. Is it really a problem?
Managed 42km this week which I'm stoked with. Hope to up this a bit next week. What's the deal in London?

Still getting back into running, only 5k two or three times a week at the moment but will keep upping that and doing a 10km run that takes in my local parkrun course.
LLHM will send me a medal if I do my own half-marathon and then send them Strava proof.
(All solo running as I'm slow, have no running friends and love the solitude/headspace anyway.)

Deal in London?
I’m planning to do 13.1 next weekend wearing my LLHM T-shirt, solely around Acton / Ealing, avoiding landmarks (and people).
Expecting May’s Exeter marathon to be cancelled but until I’m told otherwise, continuing to train for it, doing a lot of pavement hopping and avoiding what few crowds there are out there.

Ah nice! That's a good idea. I did a half at the start of feb, not an offical one - cross country on the north downs in the worst shoe sucking bogs i've ever seen. BRUTAL! Trying to get back up to the distance having been rubbish for most of feb/mar, but damn it's far. I'm back down to 10kms and kind of suffering.
I've never done a training plan, I just run a lot when I have the time. Which means I probably over train - anyone got any experience with this? Wondering if I might be better to have proper rest days...
ALSO if anyone is on Strava I could do with some inspiration. #follow4follow lol

So another pair of shoes fail to live up to billing.
I have a supination? Style of running, land on outside of my foot slightly, structured shoes say they’re good for it but I end up with all my foot on one side of the shoe. Basically the shoes don’t stay central on my foot no matter lacing or tightness.
Anyone got any input? Shoes that work

are they too wide?
my feet used to slip about a lot in Asics when i started running years ago. I went to Adidas Mana and then Bostons after that. no issues since.

Loads of things could be contributing to your suplination. Shoes too wide could make your foot move around in the shoe but not suplinate specifically. A shoe too narrow especially in the toe box will likely destabilise the foot as they will bunch the toes together allowing the foot to roll more if you can spread your toes that will help keep your foot flatter for longer therefore suplinating less. Lower stack height will also reduce foot roll. Shoes like the new top end Nikes are very tall with no support and won't help or likely accentuate any foot roll. If you heel strike your foot will also follow a larger arc to toe off so that won't help. Shoes with a lower drop can help you land more mid/fore foot this should also help by reducing the length of that arc. Custom orthotics will probably help but most gait problems originate from an in balance/weakness somewhere. Does your slight suplination cause you injury or just annoying with the shoe moving around? I tried loads of different shoes to try and correct my pronation but every pair seemed to get rid of one problem and create another unit i had a proper gait analysis and bio mechanical assessment by an expert. Turns out i had really strong quads for driving from all the cycling and lazy glutes which are needed for driving but also stabilising this allowed my femur to collapse inward slightly then my knee,tibia, ankle then foot = my pronation and resulting in problems with my foot and hip. Loads of stretching, strengthening and glute activation work now i can run all day injury free in any shoe as long as it fits. I know every runner is different and my problem is different to yours but any shoe even orthotic will simply act as a crutch and won't actually fix anything. Your problem is probably with your body and not your shoes so fix that ideally. All the running strength and conditioning actually improved my cycling too as it made me much stronger and more solid as the core work and stretching helped hold a good tt position for longer and the glute work really helped with long climbs as you have a couple of large muscles to recruit i can ride on the rivet for max quad power then shift back on the saddle and use a bit more glute and hamstring keep alternating and hold climbing power for much longer some riders switch between climbing out of the saddle and spinning which is the same principle. But it costs money takes months of work and most of it is a boring but now I'm so glad i did it. Otherwise maybe try some altra escalantes and see how you get on

I’ve always ran like this, even from a very young child and this is how I’ve ran and walked.
It doesn’t cause me the usual problems it does with others other than shin splints if I get to lazy/fat
Right now the main thing is I’m noticing my feet moving shoes and it’s ruining running for me. I’ve been told after some research the infinity react is good for this but I don’t know.
I need a new shoe or I’ll stop running but don’t wanna visit shops t try on 75 pair.

I've heard about the infinity react being good for both support and cushioning. Ben parkes did a decent review on his YouTube channel recently. You say you've always ran this way and even walk like that so that's a long time i would bet something is tight and something is loose. A good physio should help. My issue was imbalances causing bio mechanical changes and yours could be your natural mechanics causing an imbalance. Have you had a professional opinion on this? Otherwise orthotics in a neutral shoe should help as they'll compensate plus the fact they will raise your foot in the shoe slightly due to the added thickness this should help with getting a good lockdown and should prevent the shoe sliding under foot.

I land on the outside too. Hoka Rincon (spelling?) have been excellent for me. Really light, but really comfy.
And if you do trail running, Salomon Speedcross 4 are really good. No foot pain at all.
Lastly, Brooks Ghost shoes are good, but a bit pricey.
LLHM pack through the post today (even though the postponement announcement came through a week ago).
