Might need a new mainspring, might be a broken winding crown or something else. How does the crown feel when you wind it? The normal amount of resistance or does it just turn freely?
-
• #42979
The crown is stuck when you go clockwise (as you would to wind). Moving freely the other way. Adjusting the time is unaffected.
Thanks. -

Might be fully wound and something is preventing the escapement from running. Definitely one for a watchmaker to sort. Alsal are popular round these parts, haven’t used them myself.

@Regal not in London anymore, but thanks for the recommendation (I come back from time to time).
@freddo I have no idea. It was my grandfather's and my aunt had it since he passed. She had the crystal replaced but AFAIK nothing else was done to it at that time. I'm a bit annoyed with myself that I'm the one who somehow broke it.

Doubt you’ve done anything to break it, all mechanical watches need attention from time to time, especially old ones. It’s probably just seized up because the lubricant’s dried out. A watchmaker should be able to sort it, unless there’s some unobtainable part that’s failed and needs replacing.

Glad to know this. I'd have bought one if it was more mustard colour.

Is the orange bit supposed to be a helium release valve?
-
• #42990
No, it's the bezel lock.
-
• #42991
It's a button, you press it to release the bezel which you can then turn.
Stops accidentally rotating the bezel/ putting it straight for LFGSS photos.I'm not sure why I think I need a DeskDiver that can be taken over a kilometre under the sea...

The polishing in the classic one really makes the watch, IMHO the finishing on the black case makes the whole thing look a bit cheap (might be a render, seen from my tiny SE screen).
Btw just managed to badly scratch mine (11-12 to center), what’s the advice? Polish/not polish, replace OG/aftermarket replacement? The watch is slightly over a year now and working well so there might be no need for a service...

hmm? I'm wearing my Citizen today, not the SKX, so it doesn't apply; everything lines up fine.
Have read about those, look impressive for the money
