Suspect it may get worse, but hope that you are right. Have had a few arguements with the girlfriend as we are not stock piling. We have a full freezer, tins, few packs of pasta, rice, couscous and quinoa. So no need to stockpile.

I was looking at this and I thought it was a pretty confused article - it talks about UK, 80% and 500,000 and then has a chart of the fatality rate in China - if you combine the age profile of the UK with that fatality rate and times 80% you get double the 500k mentioned in the article.

Sounds like they're going about things in the most prudent way possible. Best wishes to your mum.

Pessimistic infection rate divided by the most optimistic mortality rate.
I think.

Mass gatherings are to be banned across the UK from next weekend, the government has announced after Boris Johnson’s cautious approach to the coronavirus outbreak was overtaken by care homes, sporting bodies and even the Queen taking matters into their own hands.

There is no government.

Yes, pretty bad, my parents are in their late eighties, and I'm keeping away because I have a 'tickle' in the back of my throat (But no temperature). In other news it seems that the government is now being forced to shoot elephants to assuage the mob :(

1am in asda clapham junction the line was down the entire toilet roll row and then all the way along the middle bit. Only 1 till open so they are in for a long wait.
No line for selfservice with baskets so I was out straight away.

Everything I read says that herd immunity will arrive way in advance of any vaccine. Given that herd immunity is estimated as 60% infection/recovery, then I start to understand government strategy. We need to make sure that the people more likely survive infection are in the vangard of people being exposed, keep schools open, have pop festivals and sporting events, in the most parts attended by under 60's, while at the same time keeping our most vulnerable under wraps. However this is actually the race to 60% with the proviso that we need to keep the infection rate at a level that the health service can deal with.

As an aside I have never voted for the current incumbents in my life, however I have infinite sympathy for people who are in daily meetings where the discussion is about not about how to keep everyone alive, but about the most pragmatic way to arrive at the fewest fatalities. It must be a truly dreadful experience. I know that there are people in this world (and this board) who are so rabidly political that they are unable to have any empathy at all on this point, but I would point out to them that pure political self preservation instincts would have made life a lot easier for our leaders if they had just instantly fallen in line with other EU countries.

The only bit of note is care homes. Even that isn’t substantiated.
The rest is dross, we know restrictions are on the way so it’s not a uturn. The Premier league has been suspended more on the basis of players coaches testing positive and isolating. Not for worry of the attendees. -

Had a slight panic then read this - I’d assume precautions would need to be the same for bottle feeding.

A friend and his wife had something similar. His cough was so bad he broke a rib, proper X-ray job. He's absolutely convinced it was this virus, although wasn't tested for it.
He told me this while still recovering from it, after hugging me...
Mate, I licked the contacts on that heart rate monitor you sold me! How long until I'm dead?
Ditto. (Though apart from alzheimers).
They seem to be sensibly mostly self isolating thankfully (as otherwise mostly are a bit daily mail climate denying tories). My brothers all phoning in rotation so keeping good check on them.
