• Also, where would they put the bits!? There's so little to a Speedplay pedal I can't see it working without an external pod or something, which is wack.

  • Yeah agreed, would probably feel happier dropping a ton on them if they were the pedals I use anyway though!

Speedplay aren't exactly cheap without power measurement to be fair.

Edit: I'm not holding out hope this thing exists / will exist, but since you suggested it!

  • That would be the main engineering challenge, I imagine. I can see that there'd be space for strain gauges or a battery, but squeezing both in looks like a real challenge.

  • Agreed, Powertap or Quarq for £350/400 but I dont want to pay £650 for pedals to look at numbers that much

  • Yep. I guess there are single sided options for c.£350 which is comparable to stages / 4iii etc so maybe it's not such a difference, but single sided is obviously not as good and quarq etc have double sided (spider based) measurement for not much more

  • It's not quite Speedplay, but you can create a mtb pedal power meter
    using Favero Assioma.

  • Reached an agreement with p2m.

I pay 300euro for crash replacement, but they send me a NG spinder, for a Raceface Next SL crank (normally an eye watering 1030euro). And I can keep the FSA spider too.

So while on one had it's annoying. On the other I get to use better cranks and get the better spirder, for not to bad money.

  • Pretty decent outcome

  • Does this new one have a better battery thingie?

  • Yes. The battery on the NG is built in and rechargeable, so the cover is just a cover for the mini USB port. It has a tendency to fall off, but it can be easily replaced with one of those little silicone USB plugs.

  • I did initially avoid the NG becasue it needs charging and battery life is 150h, which is around an ultra race time length.

  • Yeah I think so. Really it costs them nothing and they keep a customer pretty happy.

Pretty happy as the product I bought is still shit, which they still deny it being shit, and it took a few emails to reach the solution.

  • Want a laugh?

Sorry for the inconvenience but I made a mistake and now my boss overruled my decision.

Our very good offer is only for the FSA version so if you want the Race Face you have to pay 495,-€ additional shipping and in both cases we need your defect one back in our factory.

    I´m sorry!

  • Pretty similar to my recent interactions with P2M. Used to be small and good, now bigger but a bunch of fuckmuppets. Back to Quarq for me, despite the No More SRAM rule. If only Powertap would make a decent crank spider power meter.

  • Time to hit the 'gram and start influencing old chap. Trust is a 2 way street.

  • I gave them a chance to reconsider, I had already paid. If they do rescind the offer, i will to be done with P2M.

  • ha.
Thankfully I looked on their site, to see what claims they made about the NGego.

    They say:

NGeco MTB power meters are robust

    Which Cambridge say is:

(of an object or system) strong and unlikely to break or fail:

So I told them to honour their offer, or they can replace my unit like-for-like FOC.

  • That'a'boy!

  • More lol.

You don´t understand my point of view.
I made a mistake and you ignore that our first agreement is adhered to. We try to solve your problem very customer friendly.

Next week I will get back to you with further information.

Kind regards and I wish you a nice weekend

    Name

    Now I´m off

  • The first agreement was that they'd give me the FSA NG spider.
Then I asked if I could instead just get a Raceface one, to which he said yeah sure just pay online and comment with this message.

  • Sounds like the mincing passive-agressive whinging I got for calling them out when they decided that, unlike every other company in the known Universe, they couldn't deliver my order to Switzerland. Buch'a'cunts. Fuck 'em.

  • No More SRAM rule. If only Powertap...

I've got bad news for you there, bro.

  • Good point. I forgot about that. Oh well, hopefully Shimano PMs will improve now they've bought Pioneer's PM business.

  • What's your knowledge on consumer rights? Before I delve to google.

They've rescined their offer. Well they wont say so, but refuse to answer my questions.

Moving forward. I want them to replace it, as it's not robuts.

However, they want me to send it back for 'diagnostics'. (I can't see why it needs diagnostics to see the pins snapped) before they commit to a resoloution. I want them to just give me a solution now. Ie. we will replace it, send it back and we will send another.

Am I being unfair? I don't really want to send it back, for (12 working day) + corona time, without a solution first.
