  • You'll get more of a weight difference if you half fill a water bottle.

    What, no poop jokes?

  • The Ribble aero 883 disc is well worth a look. Looks great, had great reviews, value for money, thru axles it has a shimano pfbb but i have one on my Argon Nitrogen and the bearing are cheap to replace and easy to pop in and out yourself.

  • Merlin are clearing out the 3t stradas super cheap at the moment too. 1x11 but perfect for your fast blasts even long rides just not ideal for alpine climbs. Probably doesn't have a threaded bb but many boxes ticked and they're less than half price.

  • Only available with SRAM drivetrains though. Bleeeuch.

  • Thanks for all the info. That 3T is even uglier than the Giant though. And with only a 50t must be an arse to get up any hills, even with 34 at the back. The huge cable loop reminds be of SRAM Red. Was a pain to set up the front mech and wasn't keen on the giant clunk when changing gears at the front either.

Will go with an older SuperSix or the Tarmac 105 most likely. I realise it goes against what I said, with BB30a and rim brakes, but still have a soft spot for this, as one of the last SuperSix's before the aesthetically questionable redesign. With slightly deeper wheels looks pretty ace, IMO:

Compare, #1: Sexy smooth speedy shiny black and silver and white dolphin of my dreams:

#2: Nightmare fuel. Head tube, fork crown, and down tube area: No. Cable routing: No. Paint job looks like someone took a roller to it once, then got bored and wandered off. The previous big Cannondale logo was much nicer. Just noticed too: 3 nipples? Also made in China now, not Taiwan, not that there's anything wrong with that but still. Cutting costs much? Try harder next time pls Cannondale it's not difficult come on...

  • Just seen Pauls cycles have the same model as you've pictured up top on sale for £1200 in your size so super cheap but they also have an all black ultegra model with carbon wheels for £2250 which may make you weep with joy or despair depending on £££ available

  • Tempted?

  • I was watching that yeah and hoping they drop the price even more. The 2018 model went down to £1000. Ultegra Race one is nice too.

  • be able to maintain it myself as much as possible

and disc brakes in the same sentence

  • Its 2020. Who would buy a rim brake bike.

  • Why are disc brakes something you can't maintain yourself?

  • Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL4
Mavic Ksyrium Exalith Haute Route wheels
    Continental 5000 tyres
    Ultegra R8050 Di2 groupset
    Praxis works BB
    Easton EA70 bars
    S-Works stem
    S-Works seat post
    Toupe Saddle

Someone was selling for £1750. Good price?

  • That's even worse than the new cannondale

  • Bar and saddle swap definitely, and maybe seat post. Pedals wouldn't be included.

  • Challenging looks. Outdated paint, wheels stickers are at odds with the rest. I hate that under the stem Di2 junction box, ultegra 6800 looks meh.
It could make a great cheap race bike, but won't set Instagram on fire

  • Ha yeah. That is important. Pretty sure it's a complete Ultegra R8050 Di2 groupset, £1050 just for that. And the wheels were £700-900 new. So seemed like it might be quite a good deal.

  • No.

    And get disc brakes!

  • Canyon Endurace AL Disc 7.0 decent buy for around 1k euro's? Second hand but like new. Itching for a new road bike but don't want to spend the big bucks.

  • there is cable routing, it goes into the heatube under the stem.

3 nipples allows you to run one bottle cage lower down for aeroz

the alu seatpost is a bit of a cost cutting exercise and makes the ride quite harsh...

  • Yeah I see the routing in the photo. I meant "No" as in it's fugly, not it doesn't have it. Has some back of the TV vibes going on.

  • It looks shit, it's designed too route discs internally, rim brakes are an afterthought.

  • Went for the Tarmac Disc Sport, 2019 model on sale, in the end.

Ticks all the boxes, especially the threaded BB. I'm sure Praxis etc work very well, but easier for me to avoid any press fit bits at all. Will probably swap the wheels for Zonda Discs (unless anything else I should seriously consider?), tyres and saddle, and that's about it I reckon. Can upgrade other parts later, then if I ever get another disc frame (steel baby, come to me), can just transfer all the bits over.

  • Nice. Reckon you’ve made a great choice there.

If you’re going to upgrade the wheels, I’m not sure Zondas would make a huge difference. I’d save for some Chinese carbon.

  • Just thought the Zondas sounded / looked a bit nicer. The DT Swiss ones are a bit dull. Apparently Zondas are very strong too, and I'm quite tall and heavy.

  • Great bike choice in the end. If you want better wheels just save for deeper carbon, the biggest thing of discs is having carbon wheels all year round.
