I'm neither race fit nor fell fit so struggled around the Ian Roberts Fell Race today, although it was still type 2 fun. Tussocks & me will never be a good combo. Warm down in a hail storm was the icing on the cake.

my fenix 5 is absolute shit. Battery lasts for 1.5 days in watch mode. The fuck? Tried upgrading, downgrading, resetting, everything stock, not pairing phone, ... Garmin non-responsive and I got it via via so can't walk into a shop.

Call Garmin support, they will troubleshoot with you, decide that its fucked and let you pay £x to get a refurb. That's what happened with my 735xt (which was second hand)

damn. I'll probably send it back to my mate who can sort out warranty. Really hoped there would be a fix. This and owning a 820 edge has put me off garmin.

Thanks man!

would recommend going through the troubleshooting as there is a chance it could work, but then i guess whatever is best for you if its in warranty (mine wasn't)

Nicely done! What's next?

very good read. certainly makes me think about kit I should probably take when out running solo.

Good question. Recovery and stretching, was much hillier and a bit more off road than anticipated. Get back in the swing of park runs and hit a few 10ks maybe, any recommendations?
Also need to do some weight work, my joints and supporting muscles are on fire today.

The Pleshey half marathon entries are now open.
I have heard good things about it, and having not done it before, I have entered.
It is also the Essex champs, so it would be nice for my club to get a couple of teams out for it.

Just realised who this is 🤦🏻♂️
I could do a Friday laps this week or something next week? It’s lighter now too 😎

My Tom Tom spark is fucked. I updated and now the battery life is shit. Really shit.
What is out there for £100 max that looks like a watch and does HR (either by Bluetooth to a strap or off the wrist), and let's me do stravas and maybe does some swimming?

Garmin Forerunner 35. John Lewis have it for £99 at the moment.
-
• #21842
Another vote for the Forerunner 35, you can get different straps for it too if you want to coordinate with your outfits. Important!!
-
• #21843
Yup - my forerunner 35 was excellent. I picked it up on here for something like £90 and sold for £50. You probably could find one on ebay that someone bought with great intentions in Jan and no no longer needs.

I like my FR35, but really can take an age to GPS lock. Does improve if I sync with my phone before I head out. I assume this updates the watch with satellite locations?
-
• #21845
@ everyone thanksvery much i shall do some looking.
-
• #21846
Yes, exactly. GPS satellites can transmit data about their location, both current and planned, known as ephemeris data. Most GPS consumer product vendors update this and push it to their devices to facilitate faster fixing of location.

Same for me. My only bugbear about the watch which is otherwise good.

Just spaffed a load of money on a suunto spartan.
I had been using my iPhone 5s for training runs, but the latest update has made Strava kaput.
For races I’ve been using a garmin forerunner 25. Like all garmin stuff I have purchased, it takes 15 minutes before it can find a GPS signal outside my house.
I am hoping the Suunto rage-purchase connects as quickly as a wahoo

@Pifko @Alf0nse
My 735xt was being a right twat and taking forever to find gps.
Make sure the watch is running the most recent software, sync with phone beforehand to update gps settings, and try deleting all the activities stored on the phone by connecting to a computer and deleting all the files in activities folder, making sure to empty trash if using a Mac as they won't be deleted properly otherwise. I also copied the activity files into a folder on the computer in case anything went wrong.
Watch finds GPS straight away now.And if you do try these steps, please let me know if it works - seems to be a very common problem. Clearing the activities folder has sorted other issues with the watch that I've had previously too.

What do people think are the chances of the hackney half being cancelled?
Cheers all, hopefully once I've recovered I'll want to get a few more done this year!
